What's your go to 22lr ammo?

CCI SV, SK STD+, & SK Pistol Match.

I agree 100 % . Finally someone whos actually shot and accuracy tested. No Stingers or Maxi Mags or whatever other BS ammo you think is accurate. Here we go again though into accurate and what it is. Well if ur gun wont shoot a ragged one hole group at fifty yards, well ur needin a nmew gun or some shootin lessons! Not jokin. The 22 rimfire is one of the most accurate firearms made for short range, period. That's a fact Jack. Hyper velocity copper plated bullets are not accurate. PERIOD, If you persist to think they are , you don't know what real accuracy is. This is not a debateable subject by anybody with any knowledge of rimfire accuracy. If this post pisses people off and I get a myriad of my gun shoots dime groups with CCI Stingers at 100 yards or even 75 yards well get off the cannabis gummies or whatever else is putting you in that alternate reality. Its not really happening. Well maybe if like Clint so eloquently put it, A LEGEND IN UR OWN MIND.

Not nearly as much as some. I should have specified that all of my semi-auto rimfire shooting is pistol. I shoot the SK stuff in a Pardini. I'm not talented enough to tell the difference between SK Std and Tenex, so I just bought the least expensive stuff that cycled well without beating up the gun. SK was on sale.

My .22 rifle is a bolt, so it eats the Pardini's left-overs except while hunting. Then it's CCI Copper not for accuracy, but because I'm a bit cautious when it comes to lead ingestion.

For gophers, I like Winchester Western, the lead exposed ones with a bit bigger hole and a wee bit flatter nose. Having said that, I mostly use my CZ 455's, so anything and everything gets used.

This past week, I shot gophers with mixed WW and 555's, and had maybe two WW that didn't feed. Don't recall having any duds. My 455's were a Bushman Special, an American Red, and a Canadian. The prior week, I also used my St. Patrick's, and had good luck with them all.

Before I started shooting my CZ's, I shot a few thousand rounds of anything and every thing with my older 10/22 and a RIA clone. I would get the odd misfeed, usually when using an older 25 round magazine.

Well, since the OP did say he was looking for a balance of quality and price, and not looking for target loads..

I wouldn't recommend Federal American Eagle. Even my Ruger MK2 had stovepipes and fail-to-fire with it. Almost as bad as Winchester Wildcat.
When you can hear the difference from shot to shot, it's a sure sign that Quality is Not Job One. Unlike Ford, of course ;)

Blazer will very probably cycle your semi auto rifle quite reliably, and at $40-$45 per brick it's not overly expensive. Accuracy is about what you'd expect from inexpensive HV ammo. It's made by CCI. I used it in my Marlin M60 with zero issues in hundreds of rounds. Same with the MK2.

CCI Mini Mags are about the same, reliable and reasonably accurate for an HV ammo at that price point.

CCI Standard Velocity is a step up, both in quality and price. Good chance your rifle will cycle with it, accuracy can be good. Plan on $10 for 100 rds.

Incidentally, there's a neat trick for transferring any ammo that comes in a cardboard box with plastic separator insert to the 100 rd CCI sliding top plastic boxes.
All you need is steady hands. Shaky hands need not apply!

SK Magazine comes in a 500 rd plastic jar, good reliable ammo but the price goes up again to about $60 for 500.

Beyond that and you're into entry level target ammo, like SK Standard Plus, Eley Sport, etc. Plan on $7-8 for a box of 50 for "training" ammo.

Then it's all the way up to $30 per box or more for Eley Tenex and some of the top end Lapua and RWS match ammo offerings.

What did you get for a rifle, OP?

My last 2 bulk .22 purchases:

CCI Mini-Mags - work almost flawless in my Browning Buckmark, Ruger 10/22 and Savage Rascal.
Federal Black - works 'ok' in my Ruger 10/22 with ~ 97% success rate, while it is horrible in the rest of my .22 firearms
