What's your go-to grouse hunting setup?

Good story! I contacted them a few weeks ago to get a new stock set for my 28g and they are still using the supplier issue excuse and no plans to start back up in foreseeable future. It’s a shame because they really are great guns. I was fortunate to acquire an unfired 20 and 28g and they are gems

Thank you. Nice score on the 20 and the 28. The Sandusky sub gauges have very nice stock lines. First significant change since thier introduction IMO. Resembles the deluxe wood pre-WW2 maybe ??

A brace of ruffies last fall on my birthday, over my son's dogs, a Springer and Small Munsternlander .
Gun is my favorite, a Westley Richards 12 bore. Load is 80 grains of FFG and 1 oz of 6's , in a brass case.

Small Munsterlanders are great dogs. I had one over 20 years ago.
Emma was tireless and fearless. And a great family pet.
Emma came from Josef Steinhage in Uxbridge.
Where did you gat your Munsterlander?

My mini-mind often forgets I did pick up a newer M37 Waterfowl a year after the 28.
I gets rarely used, so it's more often forgotten about.

Thanks guys, yes the Munsterlander is fantastic as is the older Springer.
Rigby holds point like a champ while Hunter rushes in to flush!
The Small Munsterlander came from Four Point kennels near Calgary.
This is another brace, taken with my 16x16 /9.3X72R drilling

Iron Cat,
That's wyI would call hunting in style!

Yup, us old guys like to do it in style! LOL
A few years back, my 60th birthday I think, down south chasing Shartails with with friends, enjoying a noon Expresso and a hand rolled Havana:cool:

My good friend and hunting buddy sdvc and I try to get out every opener for grouse if we can.
This was a few years back, with his excellent GSP's and a few ruffies

The 9.3 round in the chamber. Full power, or lightweight plinker in case a hare runs by?
That is not a round like the 9.3x74R,
The 72R is more like a 38/55.
I was running cast bullets in it and black powder .
That was a day I didn't have the dogs with me however, so it was in there in case I ran into a white tail:cool:

I hunted with a 20ga BSS spo
zpEgxb
rter for many years. Last year I picked up a nice little 20ga Fox, and now it's my favourite. I think I'll hunt with it for many years as well. My wife has been consistent with the 20ga superposed for a while now.

My favourite when it's nice is my 20 gauge Superposed that Mr. Dawe opened up to IC/Mod. Usually 7/8oz of #6s or 7.5s

Bought a Huglu 28 Gauge as more of a "rough weather" gun that I was growing fond of last fall. 3/4oz of 8s seemed to work.

I'd be much more successful shooting them out of trees with a single shot Cooey...but I don't want to disappoint the dogs...
