What's your go-to grouse hunting setup?

SKB M-100 with 28" bbls opened up to IC/M. The only thing this gun lacks is double triggers.

12 ga.Remington 1100 Special Field w/21" barrel, and Browning 12 ga, 26" barrelled BSS. Also a Remington 1100, 2 3/4" with a barrel that was cut down to 18.5" with screw in chokes. It's fast pointing in the brush, for Woodcock, rabbits, and grouse.

I am already using full and IM with 71/2 and 8. Not impressed.

I hunted for several years with a 28 gauge. Used the old Winchester 28 gauge 1 oz. loads. Maybe hard to find now but killed birds well. No difference to a 20 gauge. Killed birds at 50 yards albeit sitting. Sue me , I'm a meat hunter.

Winchester now offers the lead 1 ounce load for the 28. Well, I think I bought them about a year and a half ago.
Only used it on snowshowhares. Pretty sure I used modified choke. But I agree, kills like a normal 20 gauge.
Thirty three yard harvest was my longest poke.

I won’t be buying any of those for my 4 1/2 pound 28 gauge. I like my shoulder.

I bought some 1oz 28ga loads but I wanna say they are Federals? I'll check when I get home. I haven't used them yet as I only used the 28ga for dove this fall with way over priced steel shot

Some great setups here!

My current go-to grouse/woodcock guns are either my 20g citori upland special...
