My old Savage 24H-DL .22/20ga. Bought in new in about 1967. Before that I carried my Dad's old Tobin double 12 ga. With both full chokes. Prairie Chicken, Huns, and bush partridge haven't figured out the difference yet. I think I'll take the old Tobin out this year. It was fifty years ago that my Dad passed on. It'll be a fitting tribute to a good man.

Depends on the TO ;) . for waterfowl either a 21st century A5 or a maxus . upland is either a 12 or 20 ga citori depending on my mood . although this year I have a bps 20 and 12 to try out .

For me it is the Stoeger 28 gauge sxs uplander. I don't cry when it gets scratched, and after 25 years it is still going strong. A 13/16 oz of #8 or 8.5 early season, and Winchester 1 oz #6 late season. It is chocked ic/mod with dbl triggers. Gun leaps up to my shoulder by itself, and just seems to get on birds as if by magic. 25 yards is a sure kill, 30 starts to push the bounds of clean kills. Early season shots are fast and close, and that is where this gun stands out. Others have come and gone, but the little 28 comes out of the cabinet every fall.....

Haven't used anything else so far into the season - trying to find out if I can hang on to a slide action long enough. :) 20ga Wingmaster ....

Citori Lightning 20 gauge with Kent 2 3/4 Heavy Game #7 1/2... just picked up a Lightning .410, will try it out on woodcock this weekend with Winchester 3" #8 loads.

For many years it was my H&R, break action, single shot 20 gauge with fixed (modified) choke.

But I recently broke down and bought a Weatherby PA-08 20 gauge Upland. It's gone out with me all of this season so far, but the H&R is still calling me :)

12 gauge custom sxs with 1-1/8 #6 for pheasants and 24 gram #7.5 for the small birds. The back up gun is a 20 gauge semi-auto.

Many different shotguns, but I always come back to my Browning White Lightning 16 ga 28" with the IC / M chokes and an ounce of #6 lead shot. It works well for everything in the uplands when I hunt with my pointing dog. Pheasants, Sharptails, Huns, Ruffed grouse, Spruce Grouse, and would do as well on Ptarmigan. It also works well on snowshoe hare and has served adequately as a jackrabbit gun. I will also use it if our Sask. mourning dove season gets approved for next year.

Many different shotguns for me depending on the time of year etc. But usually a 28ga or 16ga of some form
and mostly pumps but have to say I am getting back into the O/U again
Cheers

Reading through the previous posts makes me hopeful that the 16 ga. isn't moribund after all. I love shooting my 16 ga, guns even though the gauge doesn't make commercial sense any more. We really are a bunch of gun nuts! ;-)
