What's your opinion on the CZ Lux models?

I had a 557 Sporter in 308 ordered as well, but even though I received an email that it was shipped last week, they emailed me yesterday saying that it had a cracked stock and was being shipped back to CZ. Got a refund. The Sporter was a nice idea by CZ. For some reason they have discontinued a bunch of their 557 lines.

The outward appearance is very similar but the action in-letting is different. I tried fitting a Bell and Carlson stock off my other 550's with no luck. You might get it to fit with modifications. The comb height is higher and more scope friendly. I have a harder time lining up the sights due to the higher comb and my high cheek bone.

How is the grip thickness and positioning for your grip hand? I have big hands and still found the 550 grip too thick and uncomfortable.

Its pretty much the same as the 550. Large and bulky.

Here's a side by side picture of the 557 (left) and 550 (right)

Daniel; is that an earlier or later 550? I ask this because I thought the later one's were a wee bit more robust in the grip area. BTW, nice looking rifles!

Its later production . If i recall its stamped either 2011 or 2013. Ill have to take a look at the date stamp and get back to you. I dont feel any difference in the grip area being more robust than the other.

Mine is a "Standard" model 550 (308 win). The stock has more of a thinner profile, comb is a bit low but straight. Although I do not have large paws, it feels relatively slim and comfortable in the grip area. The barreled action is I suppose identical to Lux models. There is a "16" stamped on the left side of the barrel what is what I assume date of manufacture - 2016.

Perhaps that's true. All this talk about grips and stock thickness has intrigued me. My new Lux feels great in my hands, so I suppose design is part of the "fit equation". My Brno Effect definitely has a less robust stock and grip area and it also feels good in my hands, but it also has a palm swell like the Lux

Nice !!

still heavy though. Nothing plastic on her, just wood and steel. A lot of steel.

I have "evolved" somewhat (though my wife begs to differ) and I am slowly replacing my featherweights with more average weight rifles. 7.5 lbs unscoped is really ideal (for me) when shooting 308/30-06/8x57 class rifles. I just hate plastic even though I know it's the trend "moving forward".
