when does a gun become a sniper rifle?

A few years back one of my buddies was borrowing a Coyote and shooting in the Provincial F class match. One of the old TR shooters asked him if it was a sniper rifle he was shooting and his reply was....."It is when I'm firing it".....He was an ex CF Sniper with a tour of A-stan. :-D

I'm scared! That looks like a sniper machine gun to me! For the love of God will someone call it in!!

Also, are sniper guns allowed at F-Class matches? I'm not going if they are cause nobody should own machine guns especially Sniper models.

He introduced himself in the "greetings and intros" forum, where he stated he had air rifles, a bow, and was waiting for his PAL.

My guess is he's a newb to actual firearms and could use some direction from those with real experience.
But that's just me.

+1 Easy on the poor kid. For as many retarded posts as are seen around here, this one came off as genuine, however very novice. Luckily the question was fielded sensibly such that if the OP ignores the peanut gallery, they'll be able to see that this place is more than a bunch of hyenas waiting for a foible. V:I: :p

But really it is no joke!

It's a good eye opener for the OP. He needs to realize exactly what we are dealing with here, and that the sheer notion of calling a gun a sniper rifle is ridiculous. It is these absolutely clueless Liberal politician asshats that perpetuate such BS, and the OP has obviously been talking to such people to get such an idea in his head.

I have a brad nailer that could be turned into a sniper rifle with a few creative words from any liberal minded reporter or anti gun crusader.
 
Are you guys sure that it has to have a barrel shroud to be a "sniper rifle" or does the shoulder thing have to go up?

My Father gave me his Parker Hale Safari in 30.06 and I had it worked over by an armourer here on base years ago.He replaced the trigger guard and it came off of a C3 .....The C3 was made by parker hale as a sniper rifle for the CF .

So now I have passed it on to my son ...and becuase of the C3 TRIGGER GUARD on it...it is now a sniper rifle...lol

Little does anyone know the real sniper rifle is not the one on that rock but the one camoed so well you can't even tell it's in the background. Like ninjas, sniper rifles cannot be seen or heard, like a tree falling in the forest.
 
I believe when you shoot snipe with a rifle that rifle would be a sniper rifle. Thats is where the name came from isnt it? :p poking the fire a bit here lol

Sniper rifle

I believe that would be either the rifle a sniper was issued with or the most accurate he (or she) could get their hands on in theatre. Optics included. Don't get too caught up in the present as this has been go'in on for over a hundred years.

Snipe= a shot, esp a gunshot, fired from a place of concealment. So technically a "sniper rifle" would be a rifle used to to fire a shot from a place of concealment. So any of my hunting rifles are a "sniper rifle". But I dont call them that.
 
Once the all semiautos are outlawed the remaining rifles will all become sniper rifles, this will enable the next stage of confiscation of your property.
