When will I be able to buy the 6.8 western?

Yes, I don't know why they compare a short magnum cartridge to a standard cartridge of a different calibre.

Winchester is no stranger to apples vs oranges comparisons. I remember the WSM ads, comparing Ballistic Silvertip WSM loads to Power Point in 300 Win Mag

The Creedmoor / 6.8 comparison is done just so everyone knows the 6.8 is vastly superior downrange. They're also comparing the 6.8 to a 30-06 180gr for big game haha

I find it amusing that the 6.5CM is the benchmark these days...

They should compare it to the .270 wsm with a 150gr.

^ haha, I'm no Karen, I just bought a Creedmoor...:)

Just funny this little cartridge is being compared to magnums to justify their existence...:)

You don't have to pay people to pimp their favorites... they just naturally do... whether it is a product or a method or an ideology... human nature being what it is.

Yup ........ Bring on the big logo tshirts and hoodies and charge them for it. Browning, UA and Cabelas come to mind right off.

Pure genius on one side. Poor sheeple on the other. Bleat bleat.

The 6.8 Western compares to the 6.5 PRC much closer than to the creedmoor.

Yes it does! I was merely commenting on the parallels between its development (mainly the shoulder setback to allow use of longer projectiles) and the 6.5CM - 6.5CM edged out 260rem and 6.5swede, the 6.8Western could edge out the 270wsm. As well as the potential marketing strategy against the 6.5CM - re-reading what I wrote I can see how the fully formed thoughts in my own head were not expressed as well as I'd have liked.

2021 Prediction. The "knowledgable" in Creedmoor crowd grow up, put down their soy-latte-frappe, their murse, their 6.5, crop off the man-bun and evolve with the 6.8 Western.

I wish these rifle/ammo companies would stop the marketing hype, and trying to re-invent the wheel. The .270 is a great round, it doesn't need a little brother.

Long range shooting and hunting is a thing. Gaining popularity. A 270 win/wsm has a bad twist rate for shooting long heavy bullets. The 6.8W and 27Nosler fixed the twist issue. Guys who shoot out to 500 and hunt to 300 will get no extra value from these new rounds. Even long range guys will tell you these rounds are splitting hairs for differences in power and diameter. Comes down to what blows your hair back. I bought a 26 Nosler. Awesome caliber but wouldn’t do it again. I won’t be getting a 6.8 either as I see it being tough to get soon enough.
