Where are all the 35 whelens and 350 Rem mags. Pic's anyone?

I ended up settling on the 225 partition and 61 grains of Re15 for ~2700 over the chrono. As you can see in the pic I removed the gentry brake and have a thread protector on there now. Let me tell you that zeroing that thing without the brake was sporty to say the least. After 7 rounds from the bench I had more than enough of that... Offhand she's quite tolerable without the brake. Now my debate is whether or not I will cut and recrown the barrel or leave it be with the thread protector. If I leave it as is I still have the option of putting the brake back on ;-) I'd like to get a quality recoil pad installed instead of the hard rubber thats on there now but as I think I mentioned to you before, the pad that's on there now is glued, not screwed on. Haven't gotten around to that issue yet. I also want to upgrade the scope mounts and maybe go with a Leupold VXIII 2.5-8 instead of the VXII 2-7 she wears now. I was very pleased and impressed how it performed on that deer. It was overkill but I just wanted to draw blood with her ;-)

I have a VXIII 2.5x8 and a couple VXII 2x7s. They are both great scopes, and I use them a lot but I personally don't see the worth on the upgrade to the VXIII. The biggest advantage of the VXIII is that it's a bit longer and fits a 700 long action better, otherwise I use the VXIIs on short actions and am very pleased with them.
 
Finely I will have my "right" winter 35 Whelen project done. I am left handed and left eye dominant. I had 35 Whelen on 98 Mauser action, rechambered Rem mod 760 from 35Rem and rebarreled LH Rem mod 700 in the past. They are all gone (sold) for one reason or the other. Now I have LH Ruger Hawkeye long action, converted canoe padle stock and 35 cal Apex (does anyone know the brand?) barrel blank comming. This is going to be great rifle with all metal parkerized and coated with KG Gun-Cote. Hopefully I can find Burris 4x mini scope with 5" ER to top it off. I can't wait to try it on my shooting range in spring.
 
No its a FN model 98 action. I dont know who the barrel maker is or the smith that put it together. Who ever did it did a nice job, it looks like it is KG guncoated and it was drilled and tapped for a lyman peep. I installed a lyman 48 and have been shooting it that way. It is also drilled and tapped for scope bases but I haven't played with that yet. Oh and its chambered in 35 whelen.

I use a Past recoil shield at the bench session and pad under my elbow - makes a difference. No problems hunting it as is though - just as u say.

How far was that deer when hit and how did the partition do - pass thru?
