Where are all the Glock 19s?

I hardly think that you could classify the G19 as an experts gun and the G17 as a newbie gun. If we were living in the states the G19 would be just another Glock. A dime a dozen. But because we live in Canada, with our repressive gun laws, the G19 is rarer than the G17 so people think they are so much better. Not to say that the G19 is not a good gun but it's not that much different than the G17. I own several 9mm's ( HK P2000, Sig P229, CZ 75 SP-01 ) and I shoot the G17 better than all of them. I would like to get a G19 though to add to the collection.

Glock 19's...... where are they all?

Not a lot around because they are a great pistol and those that have 'em generally don't want to give them up.

I'd still like to get a real deal 12(6) Glock 19 some day, though.....

NAA.

I just say it is the "newbie" gun because it seems that, almost without fail, every newbie has one. There is nothing inherently newbie about them, it just seems that -around these parts anyway - a significant proportion of the males between 18 and 40 buying a first gun, guess what they get?

I know at my local shop (Reliable) they sell tons of them. Probably every shop in the country is pretty much the same thing. That is a credit to the gun in itself, in a way. I just find them really boring.

(plus the ergos are wack and they feel front heavy to me :p)

I tried to photoshop up a comparison shot between my old GLOCK 17 (which I don't have any more) and my GLOCk 19. They look similar, but in my view they don't feel very similar to shoot, YMMV:

I sold mine earlier this year and almost immediately started to regret it. It really is an ideal size, for me anyway. Kept my Glock 23 though, although it has a hell of a lot of snap, moreso than my other .40 guns. I did get a 9mm conversion barrel for it, but it's kind of weak consolation. I just got to the point where I asked, "How many 9mms do I really need?".

One more apparently.

From what I gather, glock doesn't but when a place sells them here they have an aftermarket 106mm barrel installed before they can sell it. Usually making them a few hundred more than a g17. I'm not sure if the change needs to be done before it enters the country or not though.

barrel length looks like:

Try Sporteque, they have some made in Austria aftermarket barrels. Also they can rebarrel a G19 to make it restricted when they have any in stock.

link for the barrel: http://ww w.sporteque.ca/category.php?id_category=55

Note: their website seems to lack update, so for product availability, you better call. Also the Prohib. Glock is not listed on their website. Ask for M. Tony Ward

Trigger reach is shorter on the 19, because (if you look at the picture on the previous page) the slide didn't just have it's end cut off, it had a small sliver taken out through the breach area (the locking block has a smaller area).
