???? Where are all the sks-d's ???

They're one of the few good remaining semis left in kanuduh. Nobody with any sense would be selling one unless they either really didn't like it or really need the money. Somebodytookmyname excluded from that opinion, of course ;);):d

HAHAHA! I hope she treats you well infidel29 :) I've got enough other 7.62's in the cabinet, I opted to put the cash towards ammo for guns that I actually shoot.

From what I can see, you would be paying $1000.00+ or - for a decent one these days. If you can find one for sale.

If the 81 took ak mags id buy one. Don't feel like modifying any mags

You would have to confirm with Murray 3-D or another Type 81 AK mag modifier, but I believe the AK mag mods were minor, and should not prevent the mags use in an SKS-D when modified. A forum vendor also shot video of their pinned AK drums working fine in the Type 81 LMG. They're still LMG blued units available at TI from the latest shipment. Good luck with whatever you go for!

20 minutes with a Dremel is all it takes..

SKS prices are/will/has gone up and will continue to do so - it's simple economics - years ago I thought $219 for a Russian SKS was too much - guess what I bought one for twice and then some for one. $90k for a top-of-the line F-150 I remember when you could have a new one getting change back from $15k

i got few magazines from here and the end users here are very happy and using them on their traplines. they love their t81 better than the sks. despite being bent folders ...

I have two I put both for sale with like ten mags this summer went down to 750 low ball low ball low ball or wanted the mags separately so I still have two. This sites ee is almost a waste of time.

I've been looking for an sks-d for some time now, they used to pop up periodically! Any reason they just seemed to have disappeared?
Any dealers around that have any?

Here is few reasons:
The SKS-D will likely be the last one standing once the OIC dust settles, as this paticular model is getting pretty rare anyway.
I can't see the regular SKS being on any list for the forseable furure, as nearly everyone has one and the backlash would be too big....the D is kind of hiding under the SKS banner, which serves as a protection shield of sorts...for now.

The fact that it takes AK mags is a HUGE DEAL, since they can be found just about everywhere.
This can transform the SKS-D into a reliable fighting rifle in the SHTF scenario.

Those are the main reasons, that those whom have them will hold onto them no matter what.

There are also some secondary reasons...those are the comparisons between the SKS-D and other SKS stick mag mod-els:

You can find tons of the Crapco conversions floating out there...and for a good reason.
While they might look all "cool and tactical", the removeable duckbill mag conversion renders them pretty much useless, as this mod kills most of the legendary SKS reliability.

Then you got the SKS-KD's...those are starting to get rare as well, but you can still find one occasionally....I see them pop out on ####### every couple of months or so...usually gone within minutes of posting.
The main issue with those is the fact, that converting a regular SKS into one that takes AK mags is a major and a very radical surgery (deffinitelly not something for a backyard machinist with a file and hammer)...while the Kodiak defense has the means of doing it, I still wouldn't trust it over the real thing.

This is why finding an actual true SKS-D is and will be next to impossible for now or any near future.
Made to take AK mags straight from the factory and reliable as ####.
Hard to beat combination.

P.S edit...I would argue that for the prepper minded individual, the SKS-D is likely THE most sought after rifle in Canada right now.

I heard a rumor that Mike from canmore has been buying up ALL the sks D's so they don't actually exist anymore

Years ago I passed on one for 249 new in box. Smart guy. Lol

Funny you mention that...was clearing up my old gun case the other day and lifted up the foam padding...and there I found an old price tag for the amount of 249.99, with a note that read "SKS-D"....lol

P.S edit...at the time I was actually convinced, that $249 for the D was a rip off...lol

Had two. They weren't worth $250 that I paid for both of them combined (!) But I am kicking myself for not hanging on to them to dump them for 12x what I paid!

The price for a SKS-D was solidly at $750, maybe more years ago. Who would sell one now $750 when a normal SKS is already $400 to 500 with almost none on the exchange? The $750 price tag was even considered high when the type 81 were selling for $999 (actually 1,085 with tax and shipping).

Now the type 81 are selling close to $2,000, so the SKS-D has room to move above the $1,000 mark.

I would actually dare to suggest, that the SKS-D now has more value than Type 81 (if you could find it).

While Type 81 sure is a great platform, the mags are not as readily available as the AK mags and there is virtually no aftermarket support/parts for it.
And there is the fact, that the Liberal criminal cartel in power is almost certain to add it to the list sooner rather than later.

Again...as far as a SHTF viable 7.62x39 platform, the SKS-D will be the king.

In the 80th, i bought 2 SKS-D from Checkmate Sports on St-Hubert street in Montreal with consecutive serial numbers. I gave one to my brother and i kept one, we still have them, awesome rifles. I shot mine once, my brother kept is unfired and BNIB. I paid 99.00 each... WOW AND RE-WOW.

Older members will remember CS also Laurin sports on Beaubien street and Courville Sports on Bellechasse, Le Baron on st-Laurent and Baron sports on Notre-dame. Remember miss caramel holding on the 2 SKS-D sitting behind me on my Honda 750 Four, those were the days and such happy souvenirs.
