Where are all the SKS's ? Shopping for one

I don't know if they are new or refurbed but Crappy Tire in Fredericton NB has a crap load of em in the store......and I mean LOTS for 189 bucks a piece.
There were some real nice lookin ones too. That was on Wednesday. And a whole lot of surplus in crates.
I did get a heads up from a guy in another Crappy Tire......they have stuff on backorder since November, but they wont tell you that in the store before you order anything.

He doesnt want to sell to me because i said 6 months ago (in a pm) that it sucked that he charges the regular price (695) for a cz 858+ shipping and 15% taxes while its the same price free ship + 5% taxes at canam.

Was trying to bargain the price and he got insulted or something ( maybe because i asked for his taxes licence numbers) .

Now i want a sks and i am ready to pay every single fees that he charges and he doesnt want. All this to explain that hes not an option. Hes too busy trying to make friends instead of trying to make money.

Thanks to everybody for all the infos, i ll wait for the next batch at westrifle !

Westrifle already stated that the next batch will be much more pricey. If you wait then you will end up paying more than what Weimajack will cost you now. In all seriousness you are only talking about saving 30 bucks in taxes?

Whats wrong with buying one off the EE? I'm sure someone has already meantioned but I'll say it again.
Buy a decent used one off the EE and be happy. plus you won't have to wait for a shipment to arrive at a dealer.

FWIW I got one of the Marstar ones w/ammo deal. Yes, I did pay tax and shipping but have to say that the rifle was excellent - far superior to the old Norc SKS' and in my opinion nicer than my Soviet Union Tula.

LMFAO I'd tell you to get f**ked too if you talked to me like that. No wonder he won't waste his time on you. If you're going to insult people over a couple bucks because you're too cheap then don't expect much service out of anyone. LOL!

Started reading this thread as I'm thinking of buying an SKS, so a couple of quesions if I can; What's franken pinned?, don't all SKSs have chrome barrels & is it important? & finally I've been told go for laminated as it doesn't warp but I see one poster sayin laminate is crap.
Hoping to learn

A little misinformation goes a long ways :p
Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with hardwood. I've never seen one warp, whoever told you that was talking out their a$$. 1949/50 SKS did not have chromed bores from factory but refurbs may have a newer chromed bore if it was replaced. Mid '51 they started chroming all bores. It will help prevent corrosion with corrosive ammo and make the barrel easier to clean. Proper cleaning and oiling will keep a non chromed bore like new so its not necessary. I like the girth of the hardwood stocks as it makes for a better cheek weld and I personally prefer the look over laminate. They're soaked in cosmoline so the only way you'll warp one is if you bake all the cosmoline out and don't finish or oil it. User error not design flaw :)

Pretty sure it been covered already, but here it goes. Frankenpinning is when the drill a hole in the bottom of the mag and then weld a plug in to limit the capacity to 5 rounds, then the grind off the weld to make it look a little neater then paint the base and cover what is left of the original serial number then elctro pencil the number on the side and essentially making the rifle a refurb even if it is not. There are better options of a riveted Mag, or a follower pinned or welded to the follower and therefore the serial number is not damaged.
Early Russian SKS's that were not refurbed may not have a chromed barrel as they started using chrome sometime in 1951 after that Chrome lined barrel was the norm. If it is non chrome lined just make sure to clean it well if you are shooting surplus ammo and it will give you years of service! As far as the Laminate question, if it is laminate it is most likely a refurb, unless it is a late model 55/56 letter gun, there were a few that came with a nice red shellacked laminate stock! Hope this helps!!
