Where are the High End Bolt 22lr's gone?

Here is a Browning 52, still unfired.

Come on! These guns are met to be fired :D

Hmmm....after looking through this thread I'm getting an urge to buy a classic bolt action. There are some beautiful rifles guys.
They seem to rival full-size rifles in dimensions and build quality.
I need to research them more and keep an eye open on the EE!

PS please ask some questions on your fine guns so I can help you out info. on your 22 bolt, as I am Jones'in to help in reaseaching info on your gun!

Ok, I'll take you up on your offer to help (or anyone else)
If I were to look for a quality classic bolt action that will have the full size look and feel of the center-fire rifles....which one would you suggest that won't break the bank but will get me into the game?
I've checked out some of the newer offerings but they seem "small" and not all the great in fit and finish. Maybe I need to look harder (new and used)

johnTO it is hard nowadays to fund a full size feeling 22 bolt gun that is affordables? I think the closest today would be a CZ 452/453 series, but most are a tad light! If Winchester is smart they will start making the Win 52 repos again, they could retail around $1000 and sell well. I highly dought that will happen today with the US economy in the toilet!
For your money go find a nice vintage Rem model 513 or a old Annie or Mauser rifle, you won't be dissapointed!
A new gun you would have to spend around $1500 and up to get a presice well built adult size gun, If CZ made there stocks a little bigger and longer barrel it would qualify, as it is amazingly accurate and well built!cheers Dale Z!

Very nice.
The KKM is the one missing from my collection. :D

I've got a KKJ (5 round mag), 2 KKJ-T rifles and a running boar model.

Epoxy I found A KKJ-Magnum for my collection! Hard to believe it has only been 3-4 months on the lookout for one! Found it at Epps for reasonable price:) It will be here shortly, will let you know all the particulars when it is in my grubby little rimfire hands! Now what to scope it with:confused: Dale Z!

johNTO, I was in the same boat. I wanted something that felt like a full size centerfire rifle. I checked out the CZ's and really liked them, I still may end up going with one of them soon. I ended up going for the Ruger 88/22 with the 24" target barrel and laminate stock. It is obviously not the classic look that these all are with that stock but it is nice feeling and good weight in the gun. I really like it for picking off long range gophers here on the ranch. I'd say have a look at the CZ's though for sure as others have mentioned, very accurate guns...

I've got a couple nice ones coming my way when my dad decides to pass his guns to me. He's got an old Anni from the '60's that always has me salavating and an old Winchester from the '60's as well... I have recently picked up a Remmington Targetmaster single shot bolt with a 28" barrel too. Nice little project to work with. Needs some peep sight parts and I'm on the fence if I should re-finish the beat up stock or not...

I just came back from LeBaron's( just to have a look). The "best" bolt action .22lr they had was the CZ 455 Lux(?). I was impressed with the overall quality, fit and finish of the rifle. Actually fet good! Saw a few Annie's on the EE but not crazy about the styling although the single shot's look more traditional in styling and to my liking.
Also, while LeBaron's I picked up a Savage MKII TR. It wasn't nearly as nice as the CZ but the Savage felt like a center-fire and I liked the tactical look and feel of it.
What kinda turned me off about the two that I saw was the "wimpy" looking 5rnd mags! Looked like a pack of gum. Are there any bolt action rimfires with 10rnd box mags like the 10/22? I know...I need to do more research.

DO NOT encourage CZ to keep making these CZ 455's, you are getting ripped off in quality compared to there 452/453 line of rimfire rifles!
If you look at them the magazine system sucks, the take down system sucks!
You are paying the same price as the 452's and getting a cheaper gun for the same money! Does this make sence?

If I were to buy a new gun it would be a CZ 452 or a Weatherby/ANNIE bolt action! The next step up would be a basic Cooper!

It is funny how most will pay good money for there big game gun, but refuse to spend more than $300 on a rimfire! I know I shoot alot ,and I must say I use my rimfires all year long, and only use my moose/deer/target centre fire guns for maybe 5 months of the year?

Please keep posting your amazing pictures of your RIMFIRES, thanks agin Dale Z!:)

Ok, so I'm discovering there are lots of classic bolt action 22's out there.
I found two that I'm interested in because of their "full-size" characteristics. Neither fit the highend $$ criteria of this thread but I'm hoping the experienced here will have some comments on these two:
1. zastava z5 22lr. Under $300 so I don't expect too much
2. Remington 504. Found one used in excellent condition $549

I'm looking for a classic wood stock bolt action .22lr that's "full-size" that won't feel intimidated standing next to my "Black guns";).

I would suggest an older 22 Mauser (ES350b, MS420b) but these can be kind of pricey as of late. Definitely in the man-sized department. My 22 Mauser weighs almost 9 lbs with a 26.5 inch barrel. That's alot of 22 rimfire metal to drag around in the thick bush hunting, believe me.

This is a very deceiving picture due to the 'sporter taper' but just in front of the forearm, this barrel mikes 0.847 of one inch.
As I've said before this is the single shot variant, the ES350B model.

I got a few of those Schultz & Larson ones from Tradex a couple years back....

This one had a buldged barrel and missing a few parts and was dirt cheap....had the barrel cut back past the buldge and scoped it.
