where are the single shots??

My H&R 35 Whelen Handi-rifle has been good to me. As far as single-shots go they are certainly on the cheaper side and a little rough around the edges but they get the job done if you do your part.

:)Some great firearms and photos guys. Much appreciated and thanks for sharing. Any single shots, in the contents of my safe, are and have been only a few. One of the first I picked up, on a bit of a whim, years ago is a Remington XP-100 in 221 Fireball. Hasn't been used much recently but it's still here. In rifles, my first was a Ruger No. 1 in 22-250. My Son, then living in the B.C. central interior, wanted it in the worst way, so that's where it went. I did however, replace it with a bit of a gem. An old custom Winchester High Wall, chambered in 219 Donaldson Wasp. It wears a scope of a matching era, a 10X J.UNERTL and it LOVES handloads with Hornady 50gr V-MAX:d .;) A keeper to be sure.

I know some of us have hoards of rifles and some prefer single shots
looking to get into another but in a hunting caliber ,short barrel
I have had 45/70 and 38/55 in sharps /rollers./rugers/ Martini

TC Contender, H&R or NEF hands rifle

357 Herrett

something cheap to reload with ease of components

Thoughts???

I have a NEF in .223; solid little rifle; plenty heavy with the bull barrel, trigger is heavy but crisp.

Someday I would like a Browning B78/1885 or Ruger #1.

Currently my only single shot rifle is a CVA Scout TD in .35 Whelen and I can't say enough good things about it. Hefty but compact, pretty accurate, great trigger, nice recoil pad, good overall balance, takes down easy for fast cleaning, great value all around.

I've been debating between the Henry and the CVA Scout. I can find lots of Henry's locally but can't seem to finds any dealers carrying the scout.

I got mine through I Run Guns, it was on their US site so I had it imported. Prophet River carries them as well, I'd reach out to them and check.

Got a few single shots including this 9.3x74R Ruger No.1-S.

Where are the expensive single shots for that matter? The market is really small in Canada... When I talk about single shots I get blank stares

Lol u will punish yourself with 1885 trapper in 4570 and level 3 loads. I know since I have one. I quit using it until I got a leather buttstock cover with recoil material installed

Calgary Shooting Centre has a couple of haenel jager 9. They won’t sell one without a scope and mount but it’s a good deal. No rimmed calibers though

They have some other kipplaufs at the back, couldn’t really get an answer on what they were

I have a friend that have a jager 9 in 308 and man talk about a nice little rifle that weight nothing!!
