Where did all the affordable .416's go?

It’s three years old is how it is.
To be fair , I’m quite sure you’re aware there’s 3 distinct 45/70 entities with the top one right on the heels of the .458 WM . Recoil like most things is subjective but I’ve not heard anyone slagging the .458 .
I think the market is following the shooting trend. No offense to anyone but the big spending baby boomers cant shoot the big boomers much anymore. They want a light rifle they can carry and shoot for the rest of their hunting
The new younger generation well they cant change a tire or cut a tree or do simple math in their head so they'll buy what ever is marketed as the coolest with priority on cheapness and fancy features
Not many in the in-between like me. Im to young to be a baby boomer and way to old to be a cool kid. Maybe thats why I still like big bores and double barrels
The problem with the 416 is there is not nearly the same bullet choice as the 375 and the 458
For the 416 you only have a couple real available options otherwise you're ordering small lots of custom bullets or from smaller boutique makers. With everything getting more expensive not everyone is willing to spend 2 to 3 bucks just for the bullet to send a bunch down range. We really need a woodliegh dealer here in canada

- for cheap shooting I figured out a way to handload 41 caliber pistol projectiles in my .416's with ok accuracy
- reduced .416 loads possible example my .416 Ruger & 350gr Speer 2600 fps mv to 1400 fps mv & anywhere in between

So buy a 45-70 then. Seems like a great alternative.
Well yea. I’m not going to shoot gophers with a 416. I’m not sure why that matters?
Actually I take that back. I used a 416 on a gopher shoot once. I don’t remember if I shot at a gopher, but I did destroy a watermelon. Ironically, within a mile of that location my cousins son in law got chewed on by a grizzly this last August.
So I guess there is a place for the 416 anywhere. Even in gopher country.
