So why was the modern hunter & varmint banned and not the Sporter? Do they have physical differences on the receivers?
Because I heard the SLR used an AR-10 prototype for their lower, but that doesn’t explain why the hunter & varmint were also banned.
 
There is nothing in the Gazette yet.

A lawyer is an expert opinion and *I am not a lawyer*. But I believe until it is published in the Gazette it isn't official. Obviously use your best judgement to protect yourselves.

Can a lawyer chime-in on this?

I believe they are watching us scramble around dumping all our money into the remaining non restricted firearms, trying to exhaust us financially.

I feel like a member of BLM, I despise the police. Bill Blair the prick himself was a cop. The RCMP royally ####ed up in Nova Scotia and now they’re helping the liberals blame us to shift the attention away.

Another "rumor" but this one with enough meat and bones that I'll put this warning out there: there are multiple 'stings' taking place regarding checking PAL's on purchases from individual to individual, and one screen shot of a police officer attempting to sell a prohibited firearm to a normally legal law abiding buyer.

USE caution if you are buying ANYTHING right now people. Looks like the RCMP and Toronto Police Service took summer school lessons down south with the B.A.T.F.E. on sleazy tactics.

No doubt. It is certain that the slew of lawsuits, fundraising, CPC membership growth, etc have grabbed the attention of the Liberal Party strategists and spin masters: Nothing would serve them better than one of us slipping up.
 
See, I would expect that rifles that were previously non restricted but are missed on the original OIC are going to move like hotcakes if I was interested in banning them that would be a problem.

Suddenly you have 100s of unregistered, untraceable, and scary guns flying off store shelves.
I would be thinking of a way to keep them from slipping into consumers hands until I can change my list.

If a dealer is required to check the firearms classification table before transferring a firearm, and the firearm shows up Prohibited they can no longer transfer it without risking losing their license to sell firearms.

Now I have time to update my OIC or add to it
Even if it was an 'error' now I can reclassify them as restricted and track them for confiscation

I know you know this, but just for the record, everything will be on the list. Rathjen and Provost are calling the shots (pun intended) and they have made it clear that nothing short of total prohibition will be acceptable. They don't care about hunting or target sports just like they don't care about the RPAL community. They already expressed their disappointment that May 1 didn't go far enough and - wait for it - "most firearms used in domestic violence are the hunting-variety". Duh.

Maybe the shotgun bore thing was a mistake. Maybe not. But the reality is it's now on the books. They can take away granddad's shotty and there's nothing you can do about it. Blair's tweets notwithstanding.

They are going to take this as far as they can, far beyond even what Trudeau and Blair consider adequate, and nobody in this government will stand up to them. This isn't a difference of opinion; this is an outright disdain for guns and contempt for all gun owners. We are at war. And as impressive as 2574's numbers are, it's still signed by fewer than 10% of PAL holders.

This is governance by an extremist special interest group. They will never relent. They exist very specifically to completely outlaw civilian gun ownership, and they are not even trying to conceal that fact. They wear it as a badge of honour.

The RCMP has banned over 200 new firearms since the initial bans. They will continue banning with very little push back. Parliament needs to re-convene to get the TURD front and center so the bans can be debated.
