Where have all the Mausers gone?!

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a vet bring back Kar98k from the U.S. but those import costs are prohibitive even after you wrestle one away from a U.S. collector.

Nabs - that Erma on the EE - was that the Czech refurb you were referring to?

CanadianAR - did you see pics of it? Is it matching or is it like a RC? Did the Czechs peen the funky chickens and grind the maker's code off?

Yes, she was the one I was referring too.

I always wanted to get one of those Czech made VZ-24s so I can have a close look at their front sight setup.

A prewar Czech Vz 24 would be nice. I'd like to compare it to my Wz 29 as the Poles based their rifle on the Czech mauser not the German design.

The dealer in the USA where I purchased my Polish mausers has/had some. I'd really like to get a G33/40 but the ones I've seen are expensive.

I did see pics of it.
Makers code is intact, serials all maych but its czech numbers as the
Winter trigger guard, and the cupped butt match as well, nither should
Be on an 37 erma.
Its nice looking though. Def good shape.

I looked into it and the price is too much.
But you are right there is some out there.
I am not even sure what is market value at this time.
I see Chilean, Argentinian and Czech Mausers going for 350 to 450 but I am not sure about German.

Russia is still siting on quite a few. Problem is they want too much for them.

German Mausers will sell much, much faster then Chilean, Argentinian or Czech.

At what price per rifle would West Rifle consider Bringing K98 mausers to Canada???

German K98 mauser's are way better than any other Mausers, and I would pay more for a German one, to go with the Mosin Nagant and SVT-40.

I wish I never sold the K98 mauser I used to have

I read recently on another forum that collectors surveyed felt that the highest quality WW2 German production Mausers were Oberndorf(42 code,BYF) and Brno 1(DOT).

It is worth importing from the US on some things, and an all matching or true vet bring back K98 is one of them. I was stupid enough to pass up two G33/40's for $900 each last time I was in Houston. Even with import costs, it is well under the cost of one
G33/40 up here.

I wouldn't be surprised if Westrifle could sell RC's for $600-650. That is what Milarm charged and they sold out.

I think some rare RC variations are even worth more (snipers, SS contract guns, etc).

I know that late in the War the US troops were given an order that they could bring rifles etc. back as long as they had Capture Papers (featured in the book Kriegsmodell - sadly sold out I think). As per duffle cuts, I think they snuck some home too, but I have seen duffle cuts with bring back papers as well.

I haven't heard of Canadian troops getting such an order, so I think we smuggled many handguns back. One reason why Lugers/P38's etc are so much more common in Canada and sell for 1/3 US prices.

I heard that some of the Eastern block countries still have K98's and G43's but the asking price is too high at the moment.

Wow $900 for a G33/40. Wolverine Supplies had a matching one listed on their web site for the longest time for $3000.

It is absolutely worth importing from the USA if the price is right. Finnish M28s are in the $350 USD range and here they sell in the $650 to $750 range or more. Plus now the CDN is on par or better with the USD. Best to import several rifles though at the same time.
