Why would the gov't be afraid of armed citizens? You mean they'd screw us over even more if not afraid of revolt?
Where is this headed?
Billy boy clearly said they would prohibit military style weapons by order in council. I have some very bad news for you if you think you can challenge this in court. You can not. Orders in council can not be challenged in any court. They are a throwback to the time of the divine right of kings to rule the peasants. The firearms act clearly gives the power to prohibit firearms, devices etc. to the governor in council. (Julie) So whether you like it or not their intent is to shove this down our throats while totally avoiding any tie ups in parliament or the courts. He also said military style weapons not just rifles. This opens up the real possibility that all those nice semi-auto shotguns used in 3 gun competitions will be gone along with a bunch of other firearms. If they follow the NZ example they will also ban ownership of any significant part of a banned firearm.
Not to be the depressing type but I wouldn't think any of those clauses would apply. An OIC is not a CFO or registrar making a decision or refusal, and (C) is totally irrelevant. Having said that, I'm not a lawyer and hope I'm wrong.
Here is the wake up call WE NEVER HAD THE RIGHT TO ARM OURSELVES, we had the privilege to use firearms for sport hunting, collection purposes and target/sports shooting. Our constitution never supported such a right. This is not the US. Our licenses allowed us to acquire and posses not the right to actually to own, the Crown allowed us and now it’s not.
Correct or not, good or evil, every Canadian firearm holder is on borrowed time. It is an exemption to the Canadian Criminal Code visa vi the Firearm act to exemplify you to acquire and possess and the Liberal government and whoever else with the majority of Canadians do not value firearm ownership and sees its as a safety issue. It’s not logical but they are very serious.
The more I see the negativity towards it makes me wonder why I’d wanted to be targeted for something so stupid. I am pro gun but I am not for pro stupidity.
Majority of Canada is against firearms. Get over it.
It’s been in the works for years and it’s not the only issue out there being misrepresented.
Being a professional and working with the public I am not going to violate my future and possible criminal investigation over a piece of metal and plastic because of its military resemblance. Nope. It’s already an expensive hobby. I am not to pay more than the price tag already paid.
I am saddened by the loss and the effect to the industry but it’s time to wake up.
PS you have the right to disagree but perhaps you need to focus in seeking appropriate legal direction if you oppose the government’s actions and count the cost. I cannot see to much sympathy from the public, courts or government. What happened in 1978 or 1995 holds little bearing for today. The Pro gun lobby is being dissolved by all the parties in power. They are not stupid.
Actually, yes we did!
The Turds father Pierre made sure we lost that right. In addition, our forefathers died fighting for our rights in WW-1 and WW-2. This tyrannical government is making a mockery of the rights we use to have that so many gave their lives for.
So we stand back and do nothing? How far will this go? Or, are the Liberal bag-lickers just testing the waters?
Time will tell......![]()
All I can say is don't be surprised when you send your children to Rome to learn and they come back Romans...
Does anyone know a good source of stastics on gun violence, vis a vis, how many of various types of firearms are used in crime and whether they were legally obtained etc? Do the firarms organizations have these statistics? Do the police? That sort of information would be really helpful in mounting opposition to a pointless and expensive buyback.
