Where to buy a Norinco Type 97 in 556?

I'm not going to say who's doing what because this whole thing may fall through at any point, but there is a really good chance these will be coming for summer.
I think i'd get one just for gits and shiggles.

the one I played with had problems with mags sticking, but it was an early pre production one (or so we are told) and that there were some bugs to work out. solid though.

yep the only thing we can hope is that the importer is capable of comprehending that 1000 units at 700$ is more money than 30 units at 1800 $

Canadian dealers rarely realize this. They seem to rather try and milk everything. It takes a dealer war like what happened with the M14's before anything happends. Just look at how Lever arms prices the new Norinco service pistol. These people frustrate me:bangHead:

Out of curiosity...

Okay, so I saw the Pet Peeves sticky:
1) Bullpup Rifles are not prohibited. So no one liner post like "bullpup = prohib" Go with the collective intelligence of CGN

But I also saw the Legalese sticky.

"2. Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position."

 :runaway: :runaway: :runaway:

Now keeping the Prohibited AR-180/Unrestricted AR-180B thing in mind, how did we get from the legalese bit to the pet peeve bit?

As a corollary, I'm working on an essay for a law and economics class where our instructions were to find a puzzle (Firearms laws in my case) and to look for an efficiency explaination for why it might be so. (NOT a utility explanation - as a rule of thumb, saying it makes the uninformed feel better is a utility explanation and would be invalid). Yeah, my head hurts.

Back to firearms from Norinco - their website needs work. Some weapons seem to be listed twice - the M14S and M305 are both on their list, but not next to each other, etc. oh, and the bullpups are noticibly absent, although a helical feed 9mm SMG is present.

4.5mm SVD?

Do they sell a retractable stock AR here?

In case anyone else wants to poke around: http://http://www.norincoequipment.cn/index_English.jsp

Their website is a excellent reflection of Norinco. They are just the public face of numerous state arms factories making everything from ammo to rockets. They make tons of guns not listed. They also list guns they do not make.

Interesting. So if the factory making the civilian arms were to be bought/sold/transferred to another company or spun off as say, China Arms, would the ban still apply?

Oh, the Norinco homepage http://www.norinco.com appears to be a lot better done, and has the bullpup, but no mention of civilian sales?

Also, is someone could point to a thread with the bullpup explanation, that'd be much appreciated.

For your learning process, re-read the sections again and digest. You need to start reading for comprehension instead of just picking out the obvious. If you cannot see that, you deserve a C- for your paper.

Or Turnitin.com gonna get you.:slap:

I doubt there are many papers on on this specific topic, but I don't see how turnitin factors.

Hmm...so that would make it similar to the rifles and shotguns that have sub-18 inch barrels or are shorter than 26 inches overall, where it's legal to buy it as-is from the manufacture?

Please forgive me. I try to be more tolerant. Today is proving to be the exception.

Don't post another ####ing question on this topic until you have read in fine detail the other 50 threads explaining this issue in detail. Read. Re-read. Think. Then read again.

We have hashed out this topic ad nauseum.

There is no legitimate reason for uncertainty to persist. Lazyness on the part of the poster is no longer a tolerable fault.

I propose that the next time this #### comes up, we track down the offender and kick him in the nuts.

Thank-you. I feel better now.

I wonder who will be bringing them in? The guys on Burrard? Or just an individual bringing them to the gun shows?

What ban is that? The US ban? No, it is for Chinese non-sporting arms and all amoo, not just Norinco.
