Where To Buy Advantage Arms .22LR Magazines for Gen4 Glock 17 Conversion Kit???

Despite what the company would have you believe, this is a false statement, as proven over and over again on various US Glock and AR sites I ran across following my issues with the Gen3 mags failing in a Gen4 slide. This issue is possibly due to tolerances but are well known.

The feed lips are higher on the Gen3 mags and thus failure to cycle occurs due to interference, so you can try shaving them down with various mods, or get the Gen4 mags which are, without any doubt, very different in very small but important ways.

You can PM me and I can provide you with links to several of these threads of people having issues and a couple very helpful ones that have detailed pictures of mods for the Gen3 mags, but personally I couldn't be bothered. I did however polish my feed ramp and give my extractor a new angle which fixed all kinds of ejection issues I had even with the proper Gen4 mags.

Luckily I just found a cgn member selling brand new gen4 mags through a want ad I posted on the EE, and just bought 2 from him tonight. PM me if any of you are looking close to the date of this post and I will forward you his name as he does allegedly have additional Gen4 mags available.

I'm glad you found the mags you were looking for. I'd possibly be interested in more mags so I might just PM you.

At some point I'm going to do a closer comparison of the mag I got with my AA kit and the two I bought at CSC. Maybe I'll even pull out my Nikon SLR and take good side by side comparison photos. All I know for sure is that ALL the AA mags I happen to have work flawlessly with CCI Mini-Mags and Federal bulk ammo on my one year old G17 Gen 4 frame. I've never had a failure that wasn't either ammo-related or because a good cleaning was overdue.

Sometimes ignorance really is bliss. :)

I have never heard of Federal Bulk working with this slide, that is a super well documented fact, even when mods to various parts made it work with a wider variety of ammo, so I'm pretty sure you have a unicorn there and not an average Gen4 slide my friend.

The only one I have tried so far that works with no failures is Remington Golden Bullets plated RN in the 50 boxes, but at $80 for 1,000 they are not exactly cheap. I'm sure the Remington bucket o bullets (golden bullets) would work great too but they are back ordered everywhere right now.

CCI mini mags, are they hollow points? I have not had any luck with HP's in this slide.... Also, just FYI, the Winchester M22's (LRN) is a complete disaster as well with FTF,FTE, and stove pipes every shot.

I wish I had the same experience with the Gen3 mags as you had. This has been a nightmare to say the least, cost me a ton of time and wasted shipping costs.

I just PM'd you the CGN user's details. Good Luck!

LM

Thanks for the PM about additional mags.

I've been using the CCI 40 grain Mini-mag solids, which work perfectly as per AA recommendations for the kit. I should qualify my statements about Federal bulk to say that it only started working well after several hundred rounds of nothing but CCI 40 grain Mini-mag solids. I guess one could say that I had to "break in" the kit fairly well at first before even trying anything else. I also have had good luck with CCI AR Tactical 22LR 40 Grain, which in my opinion is just another name/package for CCI mini-mags. I know that the last batch of CCI Blazer 36 grain hollow-point absolutely SUCKED in my Glock AA kit, but even my SR22 hiccuped a few times on it. The AA kit also didn't like Winchester 333 bulk pack, but I suspect again that its the lighter weight bullets which just aren't enough to cycle the slide well, also per AA's instructions. It also doesn't like the Federal AutoMatch 40 Grain 22LR either, which is strange, since that is supposedly a higher-quality round comparible to CCI mini-mag. Fortunately I've got other 22LR rifles that like those since I've got LOTS of them.

The luck I've had so far with Federal 36 gr bulk ammo was a surprise to me too, but a welcome one at that.

Game: Which one of these is not like the others?

As promised, I took out my 3 mags for the Glock AA kit and did some comparisons. I just used my cell phone camera because it was late last night and I was too lazy to pull out the SLR, but the pics I took I think are good enough.

So, lets make a game out of this. Of the three mags on in the pics, which one is the OEM which came with the Gen 4 kit, and which are the two which I bought from CSC, which are ever so slightly different?

There are two subtle differences, but my gun sure can't tell. :p

It looks like it's missing some material on the ledge above where the follower meets the slide lock. There are also two faint circular marks on the right side below the window.
