Where to buy bulk 22lr for spring 2023?

I`ve shot tons of this stuff (gopher hunting) out of CZ 457 Varmint & Rem 541S and this has been my experience. 1) Very very few FTFs, too few to even count 2) Chambers/extracts perfectly, no issues 3) Very reasonable accuracy, 1/2" groups x 50 fairly common, odd "flyer" but if you aren`t shooting in some sort of competition who cares. For the price, I love the stuff. Now Winchester that`s another story. Not near as accurate, FTFs probably 1 in 50, will often not extract ( have to carry a cleaning rod), I avoid it like the plague. I look for the Federal Champion 800 bulk packs or the 525 blue box 36 CPHP stuff (find it is excellent also) when it is on sale and stock up. Like I said, for the price there is nothing better and when you shoot 5000 a year I am not interested in the "Quality" ammo some think you need. Just my experience and observations.

That's been my experience with any and all Federal 22LR as well which is why I was surprised by the negative reviews I saw. I'll probably grab some to try anyway.

I suspect some of, if not most of, those reviews were due to the fact that the ammo was used in, let`s say. "guns of questionable potential or quality". cou:cou:

This stuff is getting abysmal reviews on the Cabelas website. I've never had a problem with any Federal 22LR ammo, only Winchester. There aren't a ton of reviews mind you, but the ones left are very recent and a bit concerning. Anyone shoot any recent batches of this stuff? Would suck to grab a few boxes only to find out it's crap. Squibs are something I want to avoid at all costs.

I've used the Federal Automatch stuff when I find it for this price. All of my 22s fire it without any trouble. I don't recall ever buying the blue box stuff, but I own enough 22s that I'm not worried about finding one that'll reliably fire it.

Here's my experience with the Federal blue box.

I picked some up from Cabela's on the weekend and went through 300-400 rounds today. It fired flawlessly in my Ruger Mk1 and almost as good in my Winchester Wildcat (one round didn't feed right). Accuracy felt about the same as Blazer and Automatch, maybe a bit worse. For the price, I'll load up on it.

EDIT: I did find that the guns were dirtier than they should've been for the amount of firing I did. It's not a big deal for me, but if you go some time in between cleanings it might be.

Typically $0.10/round is about as good as can be found these days for high velocity .22 although there has been the odd sale lately for $0.09/round.

FoC had a deal on Blazer HV .22 this time last year, $499.99 for 5,000.

Try this for pricing guidance - http s://ammobin.ca/en - then choose Sponsors to buy from. OR deal with your LGS and try get 'volume discount' for a few bricks or a case. My LGS went OOB in Spring '22 and I got ca 4-5K rounds for almost half retail price.

Vandee, that's a good price. You should stock up as much as you can, it may never be there again. I've always favoured AM for semis and general plinking. SK+ for accuracy for just a bit more.

You asked, I answered.
I generally buy the cheapest there is but I won't take that 800 pack bulk no matter the price.

No problem, I`ve had exceptionally good performance from the 800 packs, terrible performance with the Winchester stuff, so like I said, you do what you do & I`ll do what I do.

Not sure about shipping, but if you're looking in Lower Mainland Tiger Arms has 5250 packs of Federal Champion for $399... That's 7.6 cents per, and a price not seen in quite awhile! Oooops, see Edgy beat me to it!
