While I also have both McMillan and Robertson prone stocks I find very little difference in fit, balance and weight between them. Of all the stocks on the rifles of the Canadian Rifle Team to Bisley and the Canadian Palma Team, Robertson stocks out-number McMillan's or any other stock. All Canadian Cadet RPA rifles are fitted with Robertson stocks. If you think Robertson stocks are an inferior product, come out to the CFRC and the World Individual Long Range Championship/ World Palma Match in Ottawa in a few weeks and see what the shooters are using.
Thats your opinion and you are entitled to. I spent 12 yrs in the infantry and have been to competetions and seen the rifles and stocks they use. The fancy tricked out rifles on known distance ranges with all the flags, jackets, hats, gadgets etc they use is not my cup of tea. I have yet to see an operational sniper rifle, military or LE that had a Robertson stock. Because a cadet rifle has a particular stock on it means nothing to me. It is a good target rifle, yes. Would I be able to drag it through the toolies under very hardh conditions and expect it to perform? Ask PGW Steve why a Robertson was not chosen for the Timberwolf or Coyote. I have no idea what the answer would be but it would interesting to hear why. I have used and looked into Robertson stocks and could not find any that compared to an A-5 for a work gun, not a competition rifle. We could discuss this till were blue in the face, if you want a Robertson stock, fill your boots thats your choice, I will stick to a McMillan or an HS Precision.
