Anybody know where I can find a McMillan stock fairly quickly (for Remington 700 short action) .....I don't really feel like waiting 6 months for it. Looking for the A2, A4, or A5.

thanks

### intl and maybe HWSNBN from Calgary would have some or could order one for you..

Waiting time, probably about 8 months+ though

Why buy a McMillan when you can buy a Canadian made Robertson?

Sorry to hurt anyone's feelings, but I have used both and prefer McMillan Stocks, an A-5 in particular. If I had a choice, I would not buy what I considered an inferior product just because it was Canadian made. I ordered my stock directly from McMillan and their options for the stock and customer service was outstanding.

Maynard, there are a number of reasons as you can imagine.

Fortunately we all have our options and with the strength of the Canadian dollar we can all reach a little further.

While I also have both McMillan and Robertson prone stocks I find very little difference in fit, balance and weight between them. Of all the stocks on the rifles of the Canadian Rifle Team to Bisley and the Canadian Palma Team, Robertson stocks out-number McMillan's or any other stock. All Canadian Cadet RPA rifles are fitted with Robertson stocks. If you think Robertson stocks are an inferior product, come out to the CFRC and the World Individual Long Range Championship/ World Palma Match in Ottawa in a few weeks and see what the shooters are using.

Just out of curiosity, "inferior" in what way? Design? Strength? Materials? Workmanship? Fit? Finish? Customer service? Options? A bit of detail would be useful.

I like both, I prefer McMillan, but Robertson is a good quality stock, the only complaint I have heard is that they are not that easy to bed. Other then that, Robertson sent me a sample stock to look at, he said he could colour it what ever I wanted, do texture, great serivce, in the end just not what I peronsally wanted. Nothing to do with quality, that is most certainly there.

Thats your opinion and you are entitled to. I spent 12 yrs in the infantry and have been to competetions and seen the rifles and stocks they use. The fancy tricked out rifles on known distance ranges with all the flags, jackets, hats, gadgets etc they use is not my cup of tea. I have yet to see an operational sniper rifle, military or LE that had a Robertson stock. Because a cadet rifle has a particular stock on it means nothing to me. It is a good target rifle, yes. Would I be able to drag it through the toolies under very hardh conditions and expect it to perform? Ask PGW Steve why a Robertson was not chosen for the Timberwolf or Coyote. I have no idea what the answer would be but it would interesting to hear why. I have used and looked into Robertson stocks and could not find any that compared to an A-5 for a work gun, not a competition rifle. We could discuss this till were blue in the face, if you want a Robertson stock, fill your boots thats your choice, I will stick to a McMillan or an HS Precision.

Just buy whatever fits your wallet, your game, your LCF (look cool factor), your tastes, and finally whatever helps you sleep at night !!

Have lots of fun.

Robertsons biggest problem is their piss poor website. 6BR,com has better pictures of Robertson stocks than their website does.

PGW does use Macmillan stocks, and american made barrels, so they are partially made in Canada and assembeled in Canada.
