Kinda a weird question I know some places in the states offer this but curious if anyone has seen it this side of the boarder.
I recently had back surgery so I’m getting mentally prepped and planned out for spring/summer load development.
I have a new 308 win 1:10 twist rifle that I’ve put together over my injury and shot a bit before I went under for the disc slice. ( it’s a pristine sa action receiver with a heller arms semi bull barrel similar profile to tikka varmint and what they call an ev-5, in a GRAYBOE eagle pro rifle stock. It has a trigger tech r700 special trigger that hasn’t been adjusted just yet with a m5 GRAYBOE bottom metal and use either 3 or 5 end mdt polymer mags at this point but will likely get a couple ,teal mags for longer coal)
The best group I managed was a 5 shot at about .7/.8 of an inch at 100 yards. I would like to see better and I was pretty sure it was ammo choice/projectile. This is factory Geco .308 win target 147gr. Got some in a good deal and figured it was an easy way to get some rounds down the tube and have some spare brass.
I have 168gr Sierra MK but that’s it so far. I will be loading Palma brass in this case as well. I’m slowly grabbing powders when they come available close to me.
So besides the 168 MK I was thinking of playing with some 175s and 180s see as it’s a faster twist barrel. I’m also good with mix and matching different projectiles and weights so I could do 168s in MK and Eld-m on top of others. The downside is I don’t really see this being offered outside of buying a box of 50 or 100.
Is it possible to get a multi pack from somewhere with say 30+ of each projectile or should I just buy boxes and sell left overs that don’t work ?
My goal is two things I want to develop a nice target load that will hold sub .5” so I can test my skills and get out to decent ranges 500-1000 yards say. A the second will be a hunting load but I’m sure Barnes will shoot fine when I load them or accubonds as I’ve never really had issue with either.
Cheers,
B
