Where to buy Richard Near of Ken Farrel bases in Canada...

Very good words from "NormB".

If yoy intend to "go long" then it might be a good choice based on the caliber of your rifle and the scope you purchase for it. If the scope has limited adjustment and you intend to spend some time chuckin on a long distance range then you might need a sloped base. If you intend to shoot mainly in the closer ranges then it is not needed.

Some scopes, for instance, come from the factory with lots of adjustment, IE: Nightforce 3.5-15x50 NSX has 110MOA total elevation), others have less. Top quality names such as Schmidt Bender, US Optics, Nightforce, Leupold, and others all have lots of elelvation adjustment. some still more than others but the scope itself will go a long way without a canted base. If you had a scope with a total of 60MOA elevation, for example, you would most likely need to add a sloped base if you were planning on using that equipment to say 1000 yards.

Keep in mind that there are manufactures who make canted bases in 10 MOA increments so you not just stuck with a 20MOA base.

Good luck!

Get the farrel bases and rings and you will not be disappointed. Ordered mine right from them. The dealers here do not get any discount so do the work yourself and save about $80. A friend of mine bought TPS rings and after seeing the Farrels on mine he is feeling sorry for himself.

Ok, so I will probably go with the Farrel or TPS bases.... now what rings to use with them... I am considering either the new Mueller tactical, and the bushnell legend.... what brand of bases would you guys recommend to use with the base... something that looks cool and tactical if possible.....lol

Thanks!

I have Badger Ordinance 20MOA base and Maximized rings on by rifle. They cost BIG $$$ and I wish that when I was putting parts together for my rifle that someone told me to look into TPS equipment. Their rings and bases are almost identical to Badger with what appears to be the same tolerances for a fraction of the cost. Eg: 20MOA Badger Picatinny rail is in the range of about $240 Can. TPS or Farrel would be about $100. Get the same job done!! TPS rings are another example. Badger Maximized scope rings $230 ++ Can. TPS around $100 or just over.

Save some cash and look at TPS. Sold by ### International and a few others (look on the forum for contact info for ###, Joe is very easy to deal with). Shameless plug

Happy shooting!!

GET TPS! And make sure you get the proper width of rings ie. 1 inch or 30 mm rings according to the scope you get, very important, pick the scope first, and then pick rings. Now you'll need to decide if you want weaver style or picatinny style rings and bases. This refers to the width of the slot on the base. If you get a farrel base, it will probably be Weaver style base, so picatinny TPS rings wouldnt fit. So make sure you order weaver TPS rings. Or get picatinny stuff, like i did, and be truely "tactical"
