It all depends on what you mean by a classic for less than $600.00. For example, the 20 gauge 311 I have is near mint with full case coloring , great bluing and wood finish. As far as I recall without looking at it, it has a very tiny chip in the buttplate. I would not sell it for less than the $400.00 mark if I was selling. I also have a very nice Ithaca Flues in 20 gauge from 1918 I think. I paid $390.00 a couple of years ago. I also bought an excellent condition 16 gauge Ithaca Wester Arms Long Range for $400.00. So yes, you can find these types of guns for under $600.00 if this is the type of American classic you want. If you want a Parker or LC Smith or AH Fox in 20 gauge you will be out of luck for your price range. Now if you want a Belgian or Spanish gun, then you open up a whole new arena in your price range. However, some of those can be not so good on the quality of the mechanics.
