I have about $1,000 allocated for reloading components/ammo purchases in the near future.

I have nearly 5k of each type of primers so I don't need any.
I have 8# of Varget and 500 168gr SMK for my bolt action so that is also good.

I only have 800 55gr .224 FMJ bullets and 350 loaded rounds for AR use and I have a Stag 3G and a Noveske lower arriving this week.
I have 1# of XBR in stock which isn't enough to load all my .224 FMJ's.
My LGS has an 8# of XBR in stock which I can pick up for a little over $200.
Finding Hornady .224 FMJ-WC is impossible in bulk.
I can still get Lake City .224 FMJ for $132. last I looked from Henry.

I have more than enough loaded pistol rounds to last me through the summer but no more bullets in stock for 9mm or .45.

I'm tempted to just buy 2 crates of Norinco .223 and forget the XBR for now but I'll be kicking myself if it won't be available for a while.

What is your feeling on future availability of Norinco .223?
Will the Norinco be accurate enough for the 3G or should I just buy the components and develop a load for it?

I will be shooting AR's more during the summer since I'm a member at a range in the USA.

Need anything in preticular to reload, like sonic cleaner, tumbler, trimmers, brass any other bullets? hunting bullets? ar500 steel plates?

I'm good in most respects.
I have both a Hornady Magnum ultrasonic and a Thumler model B.
I have both Sinclair/L.E. Wilson and, Dillon RT 1200 trimmers.
I have more brass than I can ever use.
I don't hunt and live in the city so AR500 plates would be a no go.

Whatever I want such as a Noveske upper receiver, 11" Noveske NSR Handguard, the new Sightron TAC 1-7x24 are not available at the moment.

what kinda reloading press do you have?

Hornady LnL AP Progressive with Case Feeder and Bullet Feeder.
Lee Single Stage.
I also have lead smelting equipment including a PID controller for my Lee 4-20 Pot.

The only thing I can see myself buying as far as equipment goes is an annealer.
Once again what I want is not in stock nor will it be any time soon.

Buy bullets, primers and powder in whatever quantities and order of importance to you.
The Norinco ammo stocks are likely to stick around for a while (can you even take this stuff to the States?) but reloading supply stock is likely to take a nosedive.

The problem is it costs me 30% more to reload my own 5.56 over Norinco.
I can bring my reloaded ammo to the USA no problem.
I have no clue what the accuracy of the Norinco is.

Dante's has an open crate of Norinco so I may buy 100 rounds or so to try it out for accuracy and velocity before ordering crates.

Is the stuff in the spam cans the same as the yellow box?

There are 4 different types of nork 223/556 ammo. Yellow box, red box, white box and spam cans (paper wrapped)

Of the 4 I have 3 on hand. Yellow red and white. They are all loaded to different spec...... Same weight projectile, brass cased, but differing velocities. I would have to check my notes, but if memory serves its about 3200, 3250 & 3300 fps., or there abouts......

I have found accuracy to be between 7 & 2.5" out of all of my .223/556 rifles. There are 8 in total, 4 ARs, Tar21, 2 bolts and a mini..... Smallest groups out of the bolts, largest out of the mini/Tar..... No one kind shoots the best in all my rifles, so it's kind of a crap shoot wether or not he ammo you will buy will shoot well out of your rifle....

On the plus side, I have cracked off over 3K of nork ammo over the last 5 years. I have never ever had a round not touch off. I did have some problems with the red box keeping primers after they are fired out of one particular AR! It is all reloadable brass too, so another bonus IMHO........

Buy it cheap and stack it deep! I have stuff from years back, plus 4 more crates from a recent order and 3 more crates on the way. You can't have too much 223!

Cheers!

Thanks for the info.

IMHO there is no point having a sub MOA rifle (Noveske) only to use ammo that can't meet it's accuracy potential.

There's usually a summer sale on berrys tips from a few different dealers. I stocked up on a few thousand 9mm and 45 tips last time, probably gonna grab more next sale. I still shoot lots of cast but for the price of 80$ for a thousand 9mm 124grn cmj tips, yeah I'll take a bunch :).

That's a question you have to ask yourself, for sure.

With respect to the reloading costing more than the Norinco by 30%:

Bullets (1000) = $150
Primers (1000) =$ 40
Powder (3.6 lbs@25gr. Per round) = $150
Brass = free

Reloads = ~ $340.00 per thousand

Norinco ammo at $500/1600 rnds = $312.50
That's about 10% by my math, and I think it can get a little closer if powder can be had cheaper than the $40/lb I calculated it at.

There are others selling the Norinco as low as $399.00 a crate and Canada Ammo supposedly will price match and has free shipping.
It comes out to $0.25 per round before taxes. My rounds come in around $0.30 each.
I'm not counting the $0.055 a bullet I scored last summer for a few thousand Lake City bullets someone was getting rid of.
I was stupid nearly 2 years ago and sold a few thousand 62gr SS109's on the EE for somewhere around $0.12 each.
