too many 1911 series.I can't make own decision easily.please help. BTW,ignore the ones which is greater than 2k.
1. sig
2. s&w
3. springfield armory
4. colt
5. STI
6. kimber
7. Para-Ordinance

I don't think the results of the poll would change much if you called it "what's your favorite 1911" or "which do you own".

All otherthings being more or less equal, you might also want to consider availability. The wait time for stock on some models of those 1911's mentioned can be 2 weeks to 8 months.

Those are all high quaility 1911. It's hard pick a particulary manufacture.

Maybe the poll should be about poor quaility 1911s. There's plenty of those.

what's the poor quality 1911s in your heart?;)

Of personal experience shooting Norc, Colt, Springfield, Para, Kimber & STI 1911's, I personnally found the S&W to suite me best.

Thats just my opinion.

BTW, Sig makes a 1911? Thats new to me. Google'd it and what ya kow, GSR 1911. Looks interesting, will have to try and fire one.

Last year a friend and I took a road trip into the U.S. and a signifcant portion of our time was spent putting our hands on as many 1911s as the various store clerks would permit. We saw a lot of guns.:D

I didn't see anything that would cause me to trade in my S&W1911. Although I would probably be just as happy with an STI or a Kimber in the same price range. My friend ended up ordering a Les Baer.

There were two things that jumped out during our tour. The first was that for the price the guns that impressed me the least were Colts. The ones that impressed me the most were Dan Wessons. They were among the nicest pistols we saw and at very reasonable prices.

You can spend as little as $400 up to and beyond $3000 for one from a factory or their 'custom shop', so comparing all 1911s to each other is not exactly fair.
Narrowing your search to within a few hundred dollars (if you're prepared to spend $2000) will be more realistic.

I think TSE is one of the only few that are bringing them to Canada. Pretty rare even though they've been out for err...a few years?

The first Sig 1911 was crap, nothing more than a poor quality parts gun. The latest iteration is said to be much better. Notwithstanding Canadians virtue of panning anything they create I have to say Para makes a very good gun and is well respected in the US. I own one along with an STI Trojan and a couple of cutomized Norks. Of the ones I own, if I really need a gun to go bang to save my life, the Para SSP would be on my hip.

sig 1911 comes with poor quality parts? what made you think this way? please elaborate on it.

What about Nighthawk Custom?? I saw on their website some pretty nice 1911s, especially their GRPs and Vickers Tactical. But then they are freakishly expensive...

The first attempt by Sig to produce a 1911 resulted in sales being halted in the US and the gun was then re-introduced. Go to either 1911.com or 1911org and there are a number of old threads on the issues with the original Sig 1911. They got it wrong the first time, the new gun is said to be much better. I like my Para SSP and plan on buying a Hi-Cap again. My son bought my P-14.

PAras have the ramped barrel and the new PXT Extractor which is a huge improvement ove the original extractor. Quality is there and it comes with a life time warranty. If it breaks they fix it.
