Which .22 LR Bolt Action

Hmmm. I’m thinking I really like the idea of being able to switch barrels out on the CZ 457 .22 LR but as mentioned it depends as some CZ stocks are not able to accommodate heavy barrels as you can see in the compatible table I posted earlier

Another thing if you swap out the barrels for a different caliber everything would be off in terms of where it hits on the paper as I don’t think a 17 HMR will hit at the same point a .22 will . Correct ?

Don’t do barrel swapping, it’s not worth the effort and money.
Just buy a new different calibre with same stock and brand if you like it so much.
Unless you are going with some really high end chassis or stocks like KRG, Manners, MPA, the other stocks really don’t cost too much.

And of course the point of impact will be vastly different. 17hmr is almost flat out to 200 yards.
Besides it would different anyway even with same calibre because you take off scope. The whole thing is different.

But don’t do it, not worth the efforts. I have done it couple of times and am not going to do it any more. Only time I will do it again will be I like the barrel/action but hate the chassis/stock so much.

Thanks for the reply JQIAN good to know this helps in my depiction making !

Brno or CZ; used or new, can't go wrong. I have owned a couple 455s, great rifles. I currently have a beautiful 452 Lux that I put a YoDave trigger kit in (Bottom Photo, the one on the right; the one on the left is my former Pastor's rifle. Beautiful, highly figured wood and the barrel profile is more graceful than the straight tapers on the newer rifles. I'm working on a restoration of a basket case Brno #4 right now, and am waiting on an upgrade for the front sight. It too is a real shooter. I got it at auction with no trigger guard, no bolt, an ugly Schutzen style butt plate and no front sight and now barrel open sight (found one with the correct trigger guard). I made a butt plate from Rose wood.
New is not always better.

Thanks guys!
I love the Bavarian style stocks, and those older 452 with their threaded barrels, and the graceful profile and contoured barrels are, in my estimation, the nicest .22 that they built.

The Brno # 4 is about as accurate as you can get with a .22; even with the wrong front sight, it shoots raged holes, regardless of the ammo. Point of impact varres by ammo. It is factory bedded on steel pillars, and has a spring loaded barrel tensioner built into the front swivel bracket; the barrel could only be described as "extra Bull". Wonderful trigger. Heavy as f***. LOL

For targets and hunting the Brno #4 is heavy, as are most with target stocks. I use the Brno on gophers but I’m not walking far with it. Brno 1,2, or 5 are great hunters. I’ve also a CZ 452, Rem 541 and a VQ 10/22. Look at the “my 22 shoots1/2” list and see what sporters make it.(using good ammo). Buy a good rifle and it will treat you well for a lifetime.

Thank You

CZ chambers as mentioned are "tighter" then most NA rifles. If you plan on shooting Stingers don't. The brass case is slightly longer and will create pressure issues in the CZ chamber. Match chambers in the "match rifles" are meant more for high end ammo like Lapua, SK, Eley etc. not for American eagle.... LOL

This may be true, but my CZ455 Supermatch has had a steady diet of Stinger, Yellow Jackets and Mini-mags with nary a problem.

Just a Note and a Question - Note - I have looked around on inet and cannot find any mention of the CZ-455 Supermatch actually having a "Match" chamber; just the 12-groove (Like Micro-groove) rifling. Thus, it may be able to chamber the 'longer' Stingers, etc.
Question - Can anyone Quote any info claiming that it is a "Match" chamber ?? I found this 'comment' back in 2014, tho NOT an 'Official' quote - http s://www.rimfirecentral.com/threads/cz-455-supermatch.545858/ - " ... The Supermatch is advertised as having a semi-match chamber - whatever that means. But like TB suggests, we aren't getting reports of superior accuracy; and if 12 groove barrels really made a huge difference, all BR barrels would be 12 groove by now. ..." and reading the rest of that thread makes me wonder if the SM is really 'Super'. My Marlin 60 with Microgroove is pretty accurate but my Savage B22 is almost as good as my CZ455SS Lux.

Just for Info to aid Leavenworth in his decision - the Supermatch may be quite accurate with the 'Micro-groove' barrel but is it more than the 457 MTR chamber?

I just got thru reading the 'other' Leavenworth thread and see he chose the 457 varmint. Still wonderintg about the SM chamber, in case one comes up on EE.

The only CZ .22LR bolt action rifle models with a "CZ match" chamber are in the 457 series. No previous models had a CZ match chamber.

I found Stingers hard to chamber in both my CZ455 Training Rilfle and my 452; not the Brno 4 though. Not as accurate as other ammo though.

Stinger ammo has a longer case. For that reason CZ itself recommends against using Stinger ammo in CZ .22LR rifles. The CZ FAQ website notes "Stingers and some large sub-sonic loads will be too long to allow the bolt to close with ease."
