which .22 to choose under $700?

I guess it all depends on how much accuracy you want. What sort of quality you expect and what you consider to be fun. You'll go a long way before you find another rifle like the one mentioned in the above post.

As dryfire mentioned, what your purposes are will influence what gun would best fit you. Having said that i do not thing you can go wrong with the CZ 452/453 series of rifles. Good luck!

1.I want the high-gloss or alike walnut stock with nice grains.
2.I want the rifle to be all-METAL.
3. I want a rifle can achieve 0.5 at 50 yard consistently without modification.
4. Around 700 for rifle itself.

I will get a 10/22 after this purchase if I have money left. Thanks for all the sights.

For bolt action Savage MkII BVTS or any MkII for that matter. Out of the box .5" @50 - easy.

For semi Remington 597 Yello Jacket. I hear all the uproar but honestly - its great rifle and very accurate. Out of the box accuracy is 3/4" @ 50 easy and possibly better if you find the right ammo.

Hi, is the marlin 39a scope ready, ie, grooved for rings mounting.

No, but it is drilled and tapped for a mounting rail. Only a couple minutes to put it on and the rails themselves are cheap.

I have had a 39a for a very long time. Originally had a rear peep sight on it (it is also drilled and tapped for side mounted peep sights) but replaced it with a scope. Recently I put the peep sight back on because I found it more fun/challenging to shoot. I had forgotten how fast and accurate a peep sight can be when plinking/hunting.

Thank you Sandroad. 39a seems a good chice although I 've been shooting lever all the time before I sold my BL-22.

I just sadly learned that the new browning t-bolt 22 coming with plastic trigger as well as trigger guard. Hardly to believe.

Bolt: CZ
Lever: Marlin 39A
Semiauto: Thompson Center R55 Classic

I would have to agree that the plastic trigger and trigger guard on the T-Bolt completely ruins it for me. The original ones don't share this defect.

Don't turn your nose up to soon at synthetic parts. There are a lot of quality rifles with superb injection molded and cast molded parts. Sako, Walther,Anschutz,Remington 504,541. I still cast my vote for the 541 and have the CZ as 2nd choice.

I've been looking for a while. I was leaning towards the savage mark ii thumbhole.

I was rather impressed with the feel of the CZ 452 American, and liked the straight pull of the T-Bolt. Both seemed to handle a bit nicer than the thumbhole.

I've heard that despite the T-Bolts price, it might not outshoot the Savage and CZ, can anyone here comment?
What about the 453 set trigger? is it worth a bit more?

I'm thinking of putting about a $300 scope for target shooting on it, but I don't have enough experience to really feel strongly about a particular scope.
I have a bushnell 3-9 rimfire on my 10/22, it's convenient, but I definitly want something much better on the new gun.

Look at the Tomspson R55 for a nice looking stock, the clips are metal and easly taken apart for cleaning. I went to the range this week and got some great shooting results, 0.5 at 50 yards? not quite but I think that is more me than the gun. It's got nothing for extras from thompson, I hope someone makes a 25 to 50 round clip fpr it soon. I'v lets some more experenced shooters try the gun and they have all been very impressed, one wanted to buy it on the spot.
