Be careful of the 10/22 praises. Some folks have to develop attachments to it because of the amount of time and parts put in to them. Perfect if you want to play lego with them and make it your own. Of course, it's hard to argue against 30 round magazines. Just a fore warning, if you do go down the lego path, be prepared to spend money. It becomes a money sink, but you'll get the gun you want and something to be proud of. You may, ironically, find that you could have purchased the rifle you wanted for cheaper than the 10/22 you put together.
For a light, reliable, affordable, and accurate out the box .22lr, get the Marlin 795 or Marlin 60. No "Hi-Cap" magazines, tactical stocks, or SS match barrels. They're meant to be practical workhorses out the box. Savage 64s are also nice in that regard.
For a damn fine bolt repeater all around, get the CZ45x's.
