It explains it very well in fact. Good post. Having said that, and despite the fact that the link is FULL of experts indicating that issues can arise from the practice at hand, these guys here aren't going to pay it any mind... after all, it's just a myth, and besides they have all the answers they want (vs. need) and are far, far too cool...
Ok guys... then explain the motivation behind all of the industry based suggestions that 5.56 in a .223 chamber can cause problems... Is it a conspiracy of some sort? Are there forces at work trying to trick us all into some paranoid sense of delusion? Is there some sort of hidden profit motive that has resulted in this endless string of unfounded claims...?
Maybe. You should get proof. First could try shooting 5.56x45mm ammunition in a barrel marked for .223 Rem and inform results.

Personally I like to think for myself. Weigh the evidence and make an informed decision rather than just follow some rule that someone thought up.
