Which brands/lines of 22lr do you avoid buying?

I forgot to add....the only "sketchy" (=dangerous) experiences I've had that I THINK I can attribute to ammo was with Remington. (can't remember which) On a couple of occasions shooting Cooeys (different ones, 1 x 75, 2 x 39) and one Savage Mark II. I had nasty hot gas blow backwards and pepper my upper/right cheek with a splatter of what looked like small black/oily particles. Burned my face. I always cleared the gun quickly, never looked for the case to see if there was separation. Blamed it on the Cooey 75 first, but never had any other ammo do that. Blamed the 39, then a couple of years later with my own 39~blamed it too and instantly remembered the other experiences. Never used Remington 22LR of any kind since. I did buy/try some VERY over-priced 22WMR Accu-tip I heard was super accurate. Nice stuff, but my Savage 93FV didn't like it as much as the Hornady.

Same here, have sent thousands of T22/Wildcat/Dynapoint downrange... There's decent plinking/hunting rounds.
For serious target work, Eley/RWS still get me vote.
Haven't had much success with Remington.
- Thunderbolt/Cyclone...they'll gum up your gun in no time.
- Golden golden bullet... I was given half a bucket. Only good for use in a pump/lever, as it's the fastest way to clear the numerous duds.
- Yellow Jackets... They do a good job on small games, only minute of pop-can accurate
The only stuff I actively avoid is Rem Thunderbolt. Poor accuracy and the dirtiest ammo I have ever fired. I can't complain about AE 40gr solids and usually plink with those. Win Wildcat hasn't been great for me but I actually found the black box Dynapoint GT's really accurate.

I avoid nothing actually, shoot almost all brand's bulk ammo, plus different kinds of CCI and Federal target ammo. I use whatever is the cheapest at the time of me buying for plinking...and save a bunch good SV ammo for target shooting. I got into the shooting sport only 9 months or so...and finished 5k of Thunderbolt, 3k of M22 winchester, 7 boxes of 333 winchester white box, 2 buckets of Golden bullets 2800, and 4k of CCI 1050 and 1070 and Federal target SVs.. also some wildcats and dynpoint from winchester. Truth is, depending on what rifle I am using, all of them works fine. based on my average 6-7cents per rd for the bulk ammo, I am not complaining any brand for the quality

Well, I picked up 6 other brands of .22lr ammo to test in my S&W SW22 Victory last week, I also had the remainder of the box of Winchester 555 with me. I tried 3 different types of CCI, some Browning BPR, and some Federal.
It turns out the Win 555 is THE most accurate .22lr that I have tested through my particular pistol so far !

dont realy know what quind of brands suck i always stick with CCI , Eley , and some Remington Subsonic and Yellow Jacket
I've always heard bad things about remington and especially winchester .22
I have only shot the AR tactical CCI just because it's everywhere and comes in 300 rd boxes. I've shot close to 2,000 rounds of it through my 10/22 and have never had a problem.

Thunderbolts - the bullets (projectiles) seem to be very inconsistent in diameter. Many are tight in the chamber, no problem in ejecting after firing. In spite of this inconsistency, accuracy is quite acceptable in my old S&W Model 17-3 and most of my rifles.
Winchester 333 - Just last week, I had 4 case head ruptures in 30 shots, from the same box, when shot in my Savage MKIIGY. Required a rod pushed from the muzzle to eject the spent casing. This ammo was purchased about 7 years ago, FWIW. Age shouldn't matter much to ammo stored in proper conditions. I have to try this ammo in my CZs.

The reason I only buy .22LR bulk is because I only shoot .22 for economy and cheap hassle free trigger time. I have had good to excellent results with most bulk 22.
I can reload for pistol calibers for little more than the cost of .22LR. Reloading cost vs. .22LR cost is the tipping point for me.

Tried out Remington Golden Bullet for the first time (bought 1,200 rounds from Wholesale outfitters) and my Colt 1911 does not like them at all, had a case split on me, miss fires like crazy and these are the 100 per box (not sure if that counts as bulk or not). I'm hoping my 22 bolt action lakefield likes them or my old revolver cause they are not going into my semi autos again. I have shot American Eagles, CIL, Winchester and Brownings through my guns and never a problem till this garbage.
I use it a lot. Good for 25 yard pistol shooting but not real accurate for trying for small groups at 50 yards with a rifle. That has been my experience.
