Which brands/lines of 22lr do you avoid buying?

More than usual duds with the T-Bolts, especially in cold weather, but they fire most the time if you give them another chance. Dirty, who cares? Clean your gun at the end of the day. Accuracy is great in some guns.
I got 2 cases @ $14.99 a brick, so I'll be shooting them for the rest of my life, no matter how long I live.;)
 
Don't paint all Winchester with the same brush. The old power points are the most accurate hollow point that I have ever used. Still have most of a case of them.
 
Worst are Remington Golden bullets - you can hear and feel the variation in loads

Federal Champion SV won't function in my model 41, so it's on my crap list

Federal blue box bulk is ok, but duds are annoying.

I didn't have issues with S&B, but for the price it was nothing special, and the lube is thick, soft, and messy


Pretty much I'll buy Federal auto match, CCI Standard and mini mags, and the AR Tactical stuff (depending what's on sale), and that's about it.

If I care at all about precision, CCI Standard is my go-to. Everything else is getting into the blasting category.

And I won't pay centerfire prices for rimfire ammo, so I have never tried any fancy stuff
 
I avoid pretty much anything that doesn't have "CCI" written somewhere on the box. If you can't find a CCI variety that won't fit the bill, then it just ain't worth buying IMHO.
 
I've had great luck with Win 555's almost 3 cases thru 2 10/22s, very acceptable accuracy IMO (aftermarket barrels), hardly any duds for the amount of rounds, not even worth mentioning, not a huge fan of Rem golden bullets, been thru a few pails of those with way more issues.
 
I have avoided using the bulk Winchester ammo for years until yesterday. I picked up a box of Win 555 to try in my S&W SW22 Victory and it looks like nothing has changed with good ole Winchester .22lr ammo!

Still garbage in my opinion. Pretty much all of the bullets are quite loose in the case. I came across a few heavily damaged bullet tips, no idea how they end up that way. Very dirty, several fail to eject, duds etc...
 
I know it sounds funny, but I can't stand Eley....it's not the ammo, it's the packaging. I've had too many boxes come apart because I looked at them wrong and spill the greasy little bullets in such a fashion they pick up a bunch of grit on them. Not wanting to fire lap my barrel with unknown grit, they get disposed of. Great ammo, missed the boat on the boxes.

This is the absolute truth. People would be well advised to check the price of Standard Plus relative to CCI Green Tag and compare performance.....there will be some serious regret thinking that Green Tag was the be all LOL.

^this. I've had Winchester .22LR, 22WMR and 17HMR all disappoint. 22WMR and 17HMR both in accuracy, FTF and with the 22WMR...dented cases in a new box! Nuts. Until I bought my CZ452, I'd never had a gun shoot Winchester white box well, but that stuff would print about 3/4" @ 50 yards. I still don't buy it, but am using-up my stock shooting at old pumpkins every fall with my open-sight BRNO 2E. Nice, splattery effect. Won't buy anymore once this is gone.

^One glance at my own 22LR ammo stock would tell you that I basically feel the same way. :)

^This is what keeps me from loving SK Standard. It shoots well, I still buy it when I see it...but never look forward to handling it. I don't THINK I've noticed any extra build-up of crud in the action because of it...but..the buttery-soft finger tips at the end of a shooting session are kind of nice. :)

Simple solution is to transfer then over to a better .22 cartridge container and mark them.
 
Like some others have already said, I stick to CCI brand ammo as well. I use mini mags for hunting, blazers and mini mags for plinking and standard velocity if I want better accuracy (although I find mini mags quite accurate as well). I'm no target shooter by any means so I've never tried any of high end target ammo like sk or Lapua (which I'm sure are very accurate) but the CCI SV qualified my Marlin 60 in the 50 yd challenge, so that's lots good enough for me.
