Which brands/lines of 22lr do you avoid buying?

Have any of you guys tried Federal American Eagle 40gr lead round nose? How did they fare in your guns? Found it is bricks for a decent price, and am considering giving them a try.

Coincidentally I have! I got a horrible batch that gave dozens of hangfires and weak loads that fell out the end of my barrel, then I got a squib stuck in the barrel and then gave up on them lol. Lot number 2RP133

I like putting aside all the goofy brands (FTF, FTE) and then when I'm doing pistol drills (.22LR and 9mm) , I bomb up the mags for my clients... You know what's coming up next.

I like the introduce them to stoppages and their IA's (immediate actions). You will surprise yourself how fast they adapt to a stoppage. Now the learning begins. I see an opportunity when I find a problem!!

Cheers,

Barney

remember the old " ruko " shells ... Now, those were absolute crap ! but darn cheep

at the ridiculous price we pay for 22lr shells, their quality should much much higher ! ... at least they haven't found a way of watering down the gun powder like the do with our gasoline and that sh-t ethanol, yet !

Never again remington thunderbolts (or peters since they thunderbolts in a dif box). They leaded up my barrel something fierce. Cci blazers are only bulk I consider. I usually shoot standard velocity.

I really only shoot lubed lead round nose like RWS target, SK Std+ if I can find it, and CCI Std these days. Most everything else seems to be junk. I tried a box of federal premium target not long ago and it was so bad... my 50m groups looked like 100m groups with hot round flyers, weak round flyers, they were going all over the place. Which is fine if you're happy with soup-can accuracy at 50... I'm just not ok with that. At all.

Eley is the best performer in my gun but it's kinda priced out of reality for me. I'm not a serious competitive shooter. I'd like to try some Lapua if I ever see it for sale though.

Luckily my small collection of bolt actions(by preference) and a MKIII aren't ammo sensitive.
That said, my rifles seem to shoot lead round nose ammo more accurately and my Ruger gets feed the copper wash stuff. Brands I stick to are CCI and AE.....

Remongton Thubderbolt...worst ammo I have ever bought. What kind of brand damage is Remington doing to itself. I will never buy Remington ammo again until I hear quality has improved if I can't trust the 22lr not to get stuck live in the chambers of all of my guns. Why would I buy any larger calibers and risk hurting myself or others shooting my guns.

Have shot 22LR extensively for a long time. My experience has been to avoid Remington, Winchester and Aguila when shooting high velocity and standard velocity. Federal 510 is my ammo of choice for high velocity, Federal 714 for the cheaper standard/ target ammo and if you can afford to pay more, any of the European makers such as Lapua, RWS or Eley will give you the best results for your money.

Grey box Winchester T-22. Too many duds!. Some are quiet, some louder.
I used to buy these at Walmart and Canadian Tire. They have since dried up, but that's perfectly fine with me.
