Which Bulk Ammo ?

I highly recommend the Winchester 555; it's inexpensive and plated. Avoid Remington Thunderbolts like the plague. I found that they cause severe leading.

Avoid winchester wildcats. Terrible for semi auto. Jams up my rifle all the time. No problem in my bolt action though (for obvious reasons)

I've got a single shot, bolt, Anschutz. I've used all kinds of ammo for it and NEVER had an FTF yet.
Rright now I've got Remingtons, CCI Stingers, Winchester 333 Hollow Points, Blazers, and possibly some other forms of .22 at home!
Economically speaking, and in terms of damage that they cause, 333/555 Hollow Point gets my vote :)

From my experience I prefer Winchester and CCI. I haven't purchased Remingtons for 10 yrs, I found their ammo dirty and nothing special for accuracy.
Wildcats are Ok they group well in some of my rifles, Dynapoints are pretty good too and subsonic. Powerpoints same thing, and they are a good hunting round does lots of damage for varmint hunting. Stingers accuracy sucked overall. Xperts are a bit dirty but i was surprised how much damage the hollow point does on small stuff. You have to try different brands each rifle has its own specific taste for ammo. Write your findings down, I always forget which one they like and have to go shooting again, oh well..

nothing but great things about:
American Eagle (Federal) 36 and 40 gr - $22-24
Blazer 40 gr - $24

Bought a few thousand T-bolts recently, seem to function perfectly in my guns - $17.58
Winchester 333, 555, and wildcats have been mostly meh, lots of jams.... price around $19-21

tried CCI velocitors and has jams like winchester, NOT worth the price at all

Here's my take:

Bulk Ammos I see around here:
Winchester Wildcats: 19.94$/500
Very reliable and fairly accurate in my guns, just like Winchester X-pert. But neither does as good as the Power Points

Winchester 555: 18.36$/500
Nothing I have likes this ammo. Failures to feed, some failures to fire and not very accurate (inconsistent).

Blazer: 24.99$/525
Good, clean ammo and fairly accurate in my guns, sort of like CCI Mini Mags, but cheaper. I haven't shot it too much, but I guess in the long run it might leave a little more lead than the Mini Mags in the barrel.

Federal: 29.99$/500
Very good ammo for the price (I've always paid cheaper than that for it, though). Not too dirty, reliable and fairly accurate in my Norinco M93.

Remington Thunderbolt: 17.58$/500
This one doesn't do too bad from my 10/22 with standard barrel, but sucks in all the rest. Besides that, the only decent Rem .22LR ammo I've ever fired is the Subsonic. Everything else they make seems to be crap in my guns.

CCI Stinger: 50.63$/500 (ouch!)
This is the most reliable ammo in my Winchester M77 Semi, but it has some of the worst accuracy I have gotten in any of my .22's. Oh, and it doesn't even chamber in my Heavy Kidd barrel 10/22.

You'll have to try as many different types as you can, to find what works best for you and in your guns. For just plinking fun, any of these will do, for more serious stuff you should look somewhere else. For hunting I have seen the most damage done by Winchester Power Points, CCI Stingers and CCI Velocitors. For accuracy, I have gotten good results from Lapua, SK, RWS and Eley. However, these are all more expensive choices.

The kid barrel most likely has a match chamber and there for it wont chamber the stingers as stingers have a longer case than a 22LR. Dont try to shoot stingers out of bentz or match chambers

You might want to keep an eye out for American Eagle .22. That is great ammo (made by Federal - go figure) in every .22 I've ever shot.

If you can't find that, I'd go with the Winchester Triple Nickel (555). I hate Win Wildcat (unplated lead ammo - doesn't shoot good in ANY of my .22's).

I use the cheapest stuff I can get my hands on... Lately its been Federal 525 Bulk -- $13.99/box, which is the cheapest I can get by about $15-$18...

Works in pistols, rifles, whatever...

Walmart Winchester Dynapoints give me about 3/4" groups at 50 yards for $18 a box of 500 (when I bought) in my Savage BTVS. That is usually minute of gopher!!

In the beginning ( 5 years ago)I liked the dynapints also but too many wounded critters. Found out that the 333/555 hollows put 'em down more often and much more instant kills.

I used alot of those bulk Federals through a 10/22 but cant speak for new lots. The older ones were excellent. I just bought that Blaser bulk but i'm not sure about going to unplated. Maybe someone can elloborate on Blasers being unplated and any leading issues, thanks in advance.:)

Yep, that is precisely the reason why they won't chamber in the Kid barrel. I wasn't going to shoot them in that barrel, even if they chambered, for fear of high pressures. I just wanted to confirm that they would indeed not chamber in that barrel. ;)

I had the bulk blazers, they shot really good out of my 10/22, but they were horrible for wounding everything they hit

I shot 6 squirrels and all took 3 shots befor they died, no matter where they hit there would be a small entry and exit.

The range that I shoot at sells CCI Blazers in bulk 525 packs.
When I asked the counter guy why they sell them he said although the Blazers weren't the cheapest .22lr ammo they prefer to use them on their range "rentals" because they shot clean...therefore less time spent cleaning the "rentals".
I have found the CCI Blazers function the best in all my rimfires. YMMV

i shot a grouse this fall at about 40-50 yards with a cci blazer and it went about two feet and was dead before i could walk there. ok ammo for me. it also shoots about 1 1/2" out of my mk11 bv at 100 yards.
