Which coin cell battery do you trust in your scope?

I went to the local camera store and they had a good selection of energizer batteries in stock. A little pricey, but at least they had some.
It's the only place I found that carries the battery for my rangefinder.

Your local dollar store usually stocks the same batteries. Name brand doesn't mean much anymore as a lot of name brand batteries are made in China. Usually a fairly fast turnover in the dollar stores also.

Lithium is lithium... I don't think it matters what make... they don't seem to leak out like the dead AA's and dead AAA's.

I buy my 2032's at the dollar store...

Funnily enough, I'm fairly certain the Renata 5 and 20 packs on amazon are knock offs. Comparing the packaging and the big "SWISS MADE" on the real ones versus what amazon shows you looks similar, but different.

Awww really? I wondered if the price was too good to be true. I'll research that a little more and inspect the fine print when they arrive.

Those coin cell lithium batteries will leak. Found this out the hard way back in the 80s when I forgot one in a nice 35mm camera and screwed it beyond repair.

From then on I make sure ALL batteries are removed from everything electronic when not in use.

I store the battery in a small sealed plastic bag, so that if it does leak no big issue or damage as the bag will contain the leakage.

For red dot / illuminated reticle scopes I just set the little bag on the top of the foam rack in the safe beside the barrel or tape/tie it to the gun say at the trigger guard.

Edit: And this thread has just reminded me that I need to go through my watch collection and replace batteries in ones that have gone dead.

I got my order of Renata batteries from Amazon. They came from some place in Quebec. I ordered 5 2032's but received 4 2032's and one 1632 (!) all packed as singles. They do not look like forgeries but interestingly the 2032's are made in PRC and the 1632 is made in Switzerland.

Isn't that the entire point of Renata batteries, that they're Swiss made?

Pretty good fake it is indeed a fake. On the left is a "Swiss Made" cell. On the right is the PRC-made cell.
