Which hand priming tool do you prefer?

I like the RCBS APS hand priming tool. It has the universal style shell holder so separate ones are not required. Good feel and once it breaks in after a few hundred rounds, very fast and consistent.

RCBS customer service is top notch as well.

I have an old Lee and old RCBS. I broke the 'piston rod' on the Lee so bought the RCBS (and found out the shell holders were different.....) What makes these work really well is cleaning the primer pocket. (Lee makes this tool). It's an extra (dirty) step but worth it, IMO. I contacted Lee a few years back and they sent me a new part so now use both. The RCBS is definitely a better built tool but they both work OK (and cleaning the pockets really helps).

The RCBS Universal Priming Tool doesn't use interchangeable shell holders.

RCBS Universal tool is better built and use`s the same RCBS shell holders you use on the press for sizing and bullet seating duties, unlike the LEE which required a different shell holder for the priming tool.

Lee all the way, wore one out working on the second one. I have a Lee ram-prime and it is good too mainly use it for rifle and the hand prime for pistol ymmv

RCBS Universal hand primer is the best I've used. No need for shell holders, and the cases stay perfectly centered due to the design. Switches primer sizes in a minute or so, very easy.

RCBS tool here when they are not done on the Dillons. It would be nice if the tray was larger than the Federal primer packaging...

I really like RCBS reloading stuff but have to admit that the LEE ergo prime is a real nice piece of kit IMHO.
Yes it requires specialized shell holders; but they are only a couple of bucks each and it hasn't been an issue.

LEE all the way for hand priming

I've had the round tray Lee for decades. Started on the press. Went to the RamPrime for the next few years. Then got the AutoPrime. Yes, I am a cheap-ass, but the Lee is just fine and paying $120 for a stainless steel priming tool goes against my grain in a big way.
However, I was tired of swapping primers so carefully from square packs to round trays, so I bought an XR. Wow, was that wrong. Couldn't get comfortable with it. I thought I was buying their newest primer, but then I compared pictures. NOT the ergo prime. Now I have the proper tool. This is actually how I used the AutoPrime all along.

I've been using my old lee tools for many years, no trays round or square just single load. I wore one tool out years ago and still have two, one for large and one for small primers. Never had the need to get a fancy primer tool, so call me old fashioned i'm stuck in the old ways.
