So I find my wife looking at pink pistols today and she says she wants one. What 9mm should I get her? It doesn't have to be pink, we could do it up after. She is small (just under five foot) so I need something that will fit her. I don't have any pistols myself, and not a lot of experience with them either.
Thanks
Maybe she can start coming to the range with me more often.

First take her out to the store let her feel how they are in her hand the one i like the best would be a CZ75-b

If you are looking for a 9mm, I would suggest the S&W M&P 9. It is available with a pink back strap. My wife is also quite small and my M&P 9 fits her hand very well with the small and medium back strap on it. I wouldn't suggest the Pro version for her, my wife finds mine a little too heavy.

The trick is a grip that will feel comfortable for her. My wife has small hands and the best guns for her hands are some 380 12.6 pistols.

The other thing to consider is how easy is it for her to #### the gun? For starters, I suggest a M&P 9mm with the small grip panel. Small grip and gun is easy to ####.

My wife has a hard time with autos as she says she can't easily rack the slide. However, she loves my revolvers. Perhaps that's the ticket for you too?

Just went through this , my wife is 5 2 and 120
My sig 226 was just two big and heavy she didn't like the recoil either
So I thoughts 9s buck a little too .
She like my 32 ppk for hand , recoil
We ended up going tokerov 7.62 x 25
Small fits the hand accuracy , recoil .
And cheep to run .

Or kimber pro carry 9mm for 1300
Ttcs out there brand new

Has she tried a revolver yet? a .38 SPL like the Model K14 target, or a 686 in 4.2" might make a great choice. The 686 is VERY tame with 38 loads and she can move up to .357 when she's ready. The grips can be changed inexpensively to fit virtually any hand.

DA revolvers are GREAT platforms to learn on, particularly to instinctively get rid of flinching. You can randomly leave a chamber empty so she will notice if her technique is off or not.

Thanks for the advice gents. She said she doesn't want a revolver but I will check these other ideas out. I want the sig p 220 elite stainless with the aluminum grips on it so I'm going to try to get her in the game first.

If I were to start someone new on hand guns I would get a .22 also . under 5.00 bucks for a box of 50 and so little recoil they can focus on getting the basics down 100 % before moving up to something with more bite . When you want to get good with a pistol, for most people it takes thousands of rounds to become proficient, 40.00 for two bricks of .22(1000) compared to 40.00 for 2 boxes of 20 means for the average joe the .22 gives you much more of the practice fundamentals for your dollar.

Cheers . Mil Specs

Everyone should start with a .22 for all the right reasons.

When she's ready to step up, most women adapt better to revolvers. My wife LOVES her Ruger SR9, but still has a little trouble pulling back the slide. I expect that to diminish as she gets more familiar with it.
Her first exposure to a semi-auto was one of my 1911s. She couldn't pull back and lock the slide open, and she didn't enjoy the recoil impulse. A few hundred more rds with her SR9 will change that .....

So we went to check out what Cabellas and wholesale had in stock on the weekend. She seems to like the Sig Sauer 1911 .22. I personally think it is too big for her hands but whatever. I can see she will need an extended bolt hold open to work it properly if we get it. Is that something someone with no experiance can install himself. Any good or bad things you know of on the Sig 1911 .22?

Get here a pair of shooting gloves, really help with good contact with the handgun. Helps with recoil and positive control.

Head over to CT and get some Mechanix gloves for a start.

Oh ya.....my choice would be a nice Sig 226R E2
