If a little bit of alteration could be done such as creating a rimless from a rimmed and perhaps making the .30 a 7mm etc, would the one in the middle not make more sense for an all round round?

.22LR as well. Unless you're the one doing the attacking and B&Es, there's no need for a large calibre rifle.

.22's do not always work. Unreliability is ok for hunting but not for the SHTF scanario.

I'm going to be a rebel and say all of the firearms I own.

7.62x39, 5.56mm, 9mm, 12 guage, .30-30, and .22LR.

Why would I limit myself to one type of round?

lots and lots of .22LR ,cheep and low bulk,would be good to trade with.
5.56/.223 for sure,and then ,it would be between a 12ga and .40 cal

Likely to be sourced commercially, but the old timers who know how to kill deer with them are likely to be stingy with sharing.

Plenty of supply, but I'd think there are fewer than of this ammo in the stores than you think.

Everyone has one, and bricks of ammo are everywhere. Even retired shooters have them.

9mm - but would prefer the 40 Cause you would also need a HG
