I tried them all almost over the years and finally went with a Choate drill/tap receiver mount. I can still use stripper clips and the open sites if I want. I know you don't want to go that route but a drill and tap mount is the best option.IMO
What makes that one better than the rest ?
Next best option is rear sight scout mount. But the you can only run a red dot and there is no backup iron.
yes, there is
I have found what I think would do the job better than anything I have seen so far, I would like to post a link but I doubt it will work.
Only I way to find out I suppose. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1jTaaMMd3Q&t=71s

That is $20! There is a better way where you don't need to spend any money - use the sling that came with your SKS - here is a tutorial and proof how well it works
Although useful a sling is not a red dot.
someone gave a hint in the comments there - looks it wasn't understood.
read up about barrel harmonics - your red dot will no live long and I doubt it will hold zero due to vibrations

not to mention damaging the finish of barrel with that mount and potentially reducing bore diameter if you over-tighten which may lead to catastrophic results
Are you serious about reducing the bore diameter by mounting a picatinny rail on the barrel ?
He shouldnt be.... its a ridiculous claim IMO. Go ahead and try the setup you want. IF it eventually fails just dont expect any of us to act surprised lol
I have tried it already with an old Bushnell TRS 25, it's working fine.

Haha, thanks for the laugh. Thats a new one, the Sks must have a pretty damn thin barrel wall lol.
