Which rifle bought bone stock could do good in a competition

I dont think there is one lemon, i honestly believe the Nem is a better rifle for top accuracy but if one of you can locate a Scout Steyr Jeff Cooper Signature in 308 ( unfired a must and only 300 were made in 2010, it is gray. ) we will do business... JP.

What do you suppose the chances of either of us has access to a limited production, high priced, and hard to locate rifle such as this? Not likely, I suspect. Why not take the procedes of a TRG sale and find this Steyr you're looking for?

I am not to much of a seller, but i could get to trade, i've been posting WTB add for many weeks, no luck, if you guys in yours circles pass the word, maybe i could get lucky... It is a long shot i know, those Steyr Scout 308 JC were selling in 2010 for 3000.00 so cheaper than a TRG-22 black or green phosphate both with the Sako bipod... JP.

So none of your TRGs are .338LM then; that would have nipped the 800meters mark in the bud pretty efficiently.

I don't understand why you'd be lookign for that Steyr, it's still a .308, for another reason to just have one (I can appreciate that), but for this future 800+ mark rifle, you wouldn't be any further ahead.

That said, I don't believe the $$/budget is an issue for you (Nemesis, a few TRGs, a C63 AMG - well that could be a I-Want car, but you know what I'm saying), so why not give know Canadian builders the contract build or so to speak and get exactly what you want?

That wouldn't be a "bone-stock off the wall" rifle, but why would you limit yourself (and I say "limit" with some reservation as a TRG42 ain't exactly an entry level rifle)..

The TRG-42 i bought was to much rifle for fun, i length it to one of my friend who loved it, for me it was an impulse buy just before the Nem, since it was stuck at the border, they had doubt if it would ever get in Kanadea so i bought the 338LM, in my sole i am a tru 308 man and for the Steyr Scout i have a collection of them, i have 2 in 308 the all black, the black with the wood trimming, the Scout 376 and the only one i am missing is the Jeff Cooper Signature to add to my collection, i love those perfect rifles... JP.

The caliber, the power, it start shinning over 400 metres,( the friend who is using it have is main place were we have our private range so he is putting it at good use, 300 to 800 metres possibility ) the range close to my home is 200 metres only, not really adequate for that, and the idea of LR shooting only pop up in my mind after i've got the Nem it is responsable for opening it to me... JP.

Without wanting to come accross as rude JP, I have a real hard time believing that you only thought of long range target shooting after getting the Nemesis. Nobody will drop what, $6-7,000 on a rifle alone not knowing its full capabilities.

It just doesn't add up.

We all know you like buying rifles (18 in under two years is it) so either you just have the cash we all wish we had to spend on this hobby and know exactly what each can/can't do, or you're just buyin' them because you can.

I bought a 70.000.00 dollars car after a 10 Km ride, i bought a Triumph Rocket in 2004 27.000.00 without knowing the color over the phone, and you think a 6K rifle will put me on my nerves, if it doesnt add up for you, sorry to ear that, it do add up great for me and tonight i am starting my phone calls to have the meanest LR rifle custom built for me, i told you in a previous tread that i was a big spender and true that the LR shooting is really only in my head since i made good groups at 800 metres with the Nem... Cheers. JP.

There's nothing quite like being humbled on the firing line by a guy shooting a box stock varmint rifle who knows how to read the wind. Spending lots of money doesn't guarantee you anything other than being broke. Perhaps, not in your situation where you have so much money you don't know what to do with it all. However, for the vast majority of us that is the case.

You know buying nice things is super but this weekend had a ball me and 2 grandkids melting lead for the new H&R 45 Colt-410 gauge i bought 230.00 dollars and i had as much fun as anything else, i know a lot of you won't understand this but after my heart attack ( died 4 minutes once and 3 minutes the second time) all this in an half an hour, things in me did change, now if i spend what i've got and have peoples around me take advantage of my whealt, it is ok, when i leave this earth, i wont take any of it with me, i am just a regular guy that is living at the fullest of is capacity, that all... You know that friend of mine that take care of our land in Gatineau, i length him my TRG-42 338 LM top with a S&B 5X25X56, that guy never made more than 12.00 dollars an hour, and he is 52 years old... do i miss the rifle, not at all since i saw the sparkle in his eyes after he showed me 4 inch groups at 500 metres, i doubt i could take the rifle back, this rifle make him proud and happy and it make me happy to reload the best rounds possible for him free of charge... why not... to finish money is not a disease, it's just an accessory... JP.

Man whats the point of a post like this.

Why brag to people you don't know?

Your not the only one out there that can spend money like that. But your the only one that will rub it in our faces.

Real nice.

Near death experiences can change people in dramatic ways. Nobody would blame you for wanting to live life to its fullest under the circumstances. However, the way you put it earlier was not as you just put it. Your comments were elitest - at best.

This was his answer to post #49. The guy has lots of cash to spare for nice toys and a tad short on LR shooting skills, no biggie......

relax buddy

Sometimes it is best to keep things to yourself, maybe it is a mistake to come out direct like that but i am who i am an i intend no disrespect... JP.

No worries JP. I completely understand where u r coming from. I've been through a very similar experience... money is not complete until you spend it. Continue to enjoy this great sport while you still can and feel free to speak your mind.
