Which rifle to sell....

I`m not a big Ruger fan but would keep it and sell the Remington if pushed to it. The other option is keep both, buy more safes and keep buying. I`ve sold a few and later regretted it alot.

Reminds me of what I once did many moons ago. Bought a new in box No.1 RSI in 7x57 for $600. at the Wadena Sk gun show. Put a cheap scope on it, it didn't shoot well, was told by someone that the full wood stock could cause poi to change when going from hot to cold temps. Traded it off for a Model 7 Custom K.S. in 7mm-08. Sure loved that gun for a while, but sold it after a few years for $1400. Sure didn't loose any money on that, but when I found out that that cheap scope was at fault for the poor shooting and not the full wood stock, I sure wanted my Ruger back! So, if I were you, I'd keep that RSI.
If you're selling it, I'll give ya a buck more than whatever Chris offers you! ;)

If I could afford a 64 gun safe, I probably would keep them all, but recent health issues and financial setbacks aren't letting me play as much. Since August I have also inherited a sh!tload of firearms. I am not selling any of those, however I don't have room for everything so I am considering selling a lot of my own collection as they are replaceable and not collectible, unique or sentimental. Unless something changes soon I really don't have a choice, all of the firearms aren't even stored in my house right now due to lack of legal room.

Anyone want to donate firearm storage cabinets that would allow me to keep everything? Lol

I had the same dilemma as you I had a Ruger AB No1 in 7 X 57, and a Remington 700 BDL re barreled to 7-08 with a SS Mountain Rifle 22" barrel.
I had to decide which one to sell and made my decision based on fit.
I sold my No1 because it didn't fit, and weight, the Remington 700 is very lite and fits me like a glove.
Even with the offset rings I had a hard time getting close to the scope, I found out later I should have bought a scope with longer eye relief.
If I had to make the decision knowing what I know now I would have kept the Riger.
I am disabled and can hunt from my truck so I don't have to carry a gun very far and it is ambidextrous.
I would probably trade my custom Remington for another Ruger No1 AB, or RSI in 7X57 any time.
Stay with the Ruger.

every rifle can shoot well, but not every one has a strong and safe action.

Remington is a no no. mauser 98,Winchester 70,weatherby mark v,.... are the actions one should have in their rifles. always make sure your hand and face are safe if rupture of a case occurs.

So right here is the ignorant statement of the week!. If you cannot post sensibly, don't bother, elker.

Keep the #1, Nothing wrong with the Remington, but the #1 and the 7x57 are a "Classic" combo.

You can certainly store any gun you want in my Safe...Ive made some room lately lol. No charge to you of course.

Elker: Since when are Rem7's exploding in people faces ? (unless its there own fault)

Dam-it, I did not know that! Yikes! Now I'm gonna have about 9 or 10 Remingtons to get rid of, but who's gonna want them?

Going to thin out the herd, so to speak... can't decide which of these two to sell since they are so close in chamberings... the Rem 7 in 7mm08, or the Ruger #1 in 7x57? both shoot VERY well, but fill the same slot for usefulness.... Argg! Having a second round has never been a big deal to me, hence my boggle.

Which of the two cartridges would you keep, and why? I myself can't really see any significant difference.....

I would just flip a coin and let pure fate decide if you are that stuck.Buttttttttttttttttt if it was me I would deal out that Remington before the Ruger.I believe the Ruger to be "classier" but just my opinion.

When i opened this thread I was hoping you were gonna sell a nice bolt action in 7mm mauser. I'd of humped your leg for a chance at that. I really want one. Really. Guess i'll have to keep looking. :(

Oh and i'm with the other guys, keep the ruger. They're ###y. (What? Hunting rifles can be ###y. It's just how they roll. Get used to it.)

Send either one to me.
If at any time you think you made the wrong decision, send the other one to me and I will ship the first one back to you.
At that point the deal will be done. We are both happy. I have the rifle you don't want, and you have the one you want.

Not that I need another 7 mm but whatever I can do to help.

Wish I would have thought of that solution to the problem, you are a genius!

You are quite the gentleman. Good on you for trying to help a fellow GunNut out.

Lol you guys crack me up. I wonder what would happen if I put my all Original Long Octagon barrel 25-35 winchester in the mix..... even has some old factory ammo, new Winchester ammo, dies brass etc...

If you did that, a mob would form around kenora and thunder bay and hunt you until you were found. Creepy as f*ck, yes. But it would happen. Ask 30/06FTW how it goes around that area. He'll tell ya. He's creepy as f*ck too. In a good way of course.

I just went through the same thing as the OP.
I picked up a #1 RSI in 7x57 a couple of years ago. One of my buddies wanted it right from Day 1.
He finally came up with the right trade. I got a NIB Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in .375 H&H, he got the #1
Don't worry, I still have my Brno ZKK600 in 7x57 and my Rem. 700 XHR in 7mm-08

you & I could be in a race here! That's exactly what I'm looking for! But, I have almost come to the conclusion that non exist (with a DM). I'm still looking, but if an RSI comes along first, I don't think I'll say no!

My God, that pic in post #39 is soooooooooooooooooo beautiful.....................
