Which scope are you putting on your Makasi MK-15?

Howdy folks, I just pulled the trigger on a Vortex Venom 1-6x24mm that includes a 1-piece mount (2" offset). Surprisingly, got it for less than $410 all in, shipped, from... Cabela's!

I watched a lot of videos online, C_DOES has the best optics reviews with lots of footage of this scope. I was going to get the Vector Optics Continental 1-8 that he also reviewed, but it cost more + I'd need to buy a mount. Visually, it didn't seem worth the extra money.

I had also considered a fixed 3x or 4x micro prism + offset red dot, but my eyes crave higher magnification so the extra weight is justified. I'm currently looking for some offset iron sights, but am blown away by how much these suckers cost... I prefer the idea of back up irons instead of a red dot.

So, gentlemen, which optics are you putting on your Makasi? Am I sacrificing too much performance with my budget LPVO choice? My closest reference point would be the Bushnell R5 1-6 which, for the price, exceeded my expectations.

Note for the mods: unsure if I've posted to the correct place, please move if necessary.

I am going with an EoTech Vudu 1-10x LPVO, mostly because that is the best carbine scope that I happen to have on-hand and can swap around to free up for the Makasi. I have enjoyed very good performance and reliability/durability from the Vudu for the past several years on my CZ Bren 2, followed by a Renegade. No reason to expect any different when I install it on the new Makasi with its 2.5-3 MOA accuracy performance.
I will run a spare Holosun HS 507C Multi-Reticle Red Dot sight on an RMR-footprint Offset Mount at 45-degrees to the Right for close target engagements.

How's the eyebox on a 1-10? I keep seeing people say online that 1-6 is sort of the sweet spot for an LPVO, or maybe that's just a budget constraint.

I'll be firing at 50 meters maximum. Probably closer to 30. Red dot. Probably a Sig.
Yeah makes sense. I've only looked through a Romeo 5 (gen 2) and a cheap Amazon (Feyachi) red dot. Not sure why these things can cost upwards up $500, I guess they're just more durable or something?

Also, would you just consider fixed iron sights at that point if you're only shooting at those relatively close distances?

Sounds like a great deal on the venom, mine was 430$ before the mount couple years ago. It still works great no complaints at all , even use it more than my apex edge 1-10 to be honest.
Oh wow, never heard of the Apex brand but just saw the price tag... Your feedback has certainly reaffirmed my decision lol, thank you. I got lucky on the price as I tried a random promo code and got 15% off. Too bad shipping wasn't free, I think it's because of the battery (breaks their ToS for free shipping).

For me, a red dot is better for both eyes open shooting.

Arken LP6 if I can find one. Got one for my Renegade from Amazon less than $300. It is heavy but functional.

If not, Primary Arms SLX Micro Prism 3x should be sufficient or

I will buy another "green" dot from Holosun ( ARO ) with multiple reticles or Primary Arm SLx MD25 ACSS-CQB to pair with my Holosun HM3X magnifier which is already on my 10/22. I prefer the PA option but not sure if I could get my hand onto one. Don't want to pay crazy shipping cost tho

My longest range is up to 300m, I don't think I need LVPO or high powered scope for it.

I have a 3x PA Micro Prism with green Illumination, I really like it. Wasn't sure on eye relief though, if the included mounts would work on the Makasi.

the BDC on PA micro prism is nice. An alternative would be Holosun ARO with SPR edition that reflex sight could pair with my magnifier

I think I prefer the dot than a LVPO so I could shoot with both eyes open on the move.
