Hi everyone, I am in the market for a new 12 and could use some advice. I was leaning towards a pump (probably 870), but now I'm thinking I might as well spend a few more bucks and get a semi. However I can't afford anything that's expensive (defined as over 600 bucks plus tax in my case). I like the idea of a recoil-driven semi instead of gas-driven. 3.5" chamber not necessary (but do want 3). So I'm basically looking at three options (with Cabelas Canada current online price listed):
1) Benelli Nova 3.5, 3 tubes, $469.99
2) Benelli Super-Nova 3.5, 3 tubes, $599.00
3) Stoeger Model 1200, 5 tubes, $539.99
All three have 28" VR barrels and black synthetic stocks, which I want.
Anybody here compare these head to head? I'll of course go to the store and check fit, etc., before making any final choice, but I would like to see what people think.
Is the Super-Nova that much better than the Nova, to justify spending an extra $130? I thought the Stoeger was a "cheap Benelli", but it seems to fall in the middle here. Biggest difference I see is being limited to 3" shells (as noted above, not a big deal), but it comes with two additional chokes.
I don't mind spending the extra money on the Super-Nova if folks think it's worth it. This will be my general-duty all-around shotgun, at least until I can afford to buy more
Thanks in advance everyone,
Jeff
