Which shotgun would be great for hunting squirrel and chipmunk? how much does it cost . May be it sound weird to you that i'm going to hunt these mini creatures.

My purpose for this post is not any sort of trap or something else.

I have read some people have eat squirrel as well but there taste is that bad that anyone think. Have anyone else have tasted squirrel meat.

Hopefully i will get the answer. squirrel hunting guide for people click here

Tree Rats! .410 works, so does 12 gauge. Pump works. Auto loader - you bet. Single shots and double barrel. Pretty much any shotgun will work. I tend to use whatever is handy when they piss off the dogs, or when they chew their way into the shed. I don’t so much hunt them as try to control the population so we don’t get overrun.

.410 would be my choice for a shotgun, or a .22 rifle.

Ever see .22 cal shot cartridges? They’re a hoot. Not much shot in those and the range is limited (Which can be a real bonus in certain conditions. Not going to continue half a mile past the target if you miss.). I have a farmer friend who shoots mice inside the house with those.

Chipmunks are illegal to hunt in my province but any shotgun works for squirrel 410 shells are expensive but the 410 works fine and it's my personal choice. I use a Stevens 301 turkey 410 single shot. The turkey choke extends the range of the 410

10 gauge. 1 1/2 oz of lead. Turn them into pink mist. Lol

Edit: Had no idea of the legalities of hunting either of these animals, haven't ever had the inclination to do so. Just figured a big ridiculous shotgun load would be pretty effective against a small thing, if you didn't want to take it home with you.

I think you should focus your energy on bettering yourself instead of going on a little animal murdering spree...

"Hooked on phonics" may be a good place to start...

Here in Manitoba, Red Squirrels are fur bearing animals, and are regulated under the Wildlife Act. Only a person holding a trapper's licence who won't waste the fur can harvest them. Just thought I'd throw that out there for your consideration.

Maybe at least a pair of house cats? So long as coyotes, fisher do not get them, they seem to hold the little four footed critters at bay around here - mice, voles, chipmunks and so on - seem to discover red squirrel nests in various wood sheds. Ours have dragged in a bush rabbit (cotton tail??) and at least one weasel, as well. Down side is I have had raccoon in the garage - came in and go out through the hanging flap cat door ...
