Which Single-shot rifle would you choose?

Speaking of falling block actions...

Anyone here on the Canuck side of the border had hands on one of the EABCO falling block actions?

Looks like they use essentially the same action for their silhouette pistol as for the 97D rifle. My Google is weak, as to finding a cross section drawing to see what is going on inside. Anyone seen a breakdown or parts diagram anywhere ?
Watching the videos it almost looks like there is an over-center Spring on the block that snaps it open, and snaps it closed as the block is raised and lowered.

Of all the single shot actions, my preference is the Ruger #1. The rounded lines, lever, lever latch are more appealing to myself than the other squarish-looking actions. Other than just purchasing a #1, I would have it custom made and choose the cartridge of my fondness.
 
My journey into the world of single shots was to come up with the lightest rifles/carbines with interchangeable barrels that I could left me looking at Thompson Center Contender carbines nothing else really fit the bill this was 23 - 24 years ago.

I started out with a break action 21" barreled stainless Rynite stocked T/C Contender carbine in 30/30 While I'm now down to 14" barrels in 45 Colt - 338JDJ #2 - 375JDJ overall length is 27.5" I still have barrels from 19" - 22"

With the 338JDJ #2 combo I load 180gr Accubonds @ 2500fps it is so accurate that I would not hesitate to shoot game at 320 yards.

With my 200gr SST @ 2350fps loads I can cut the heads off of grouse @ 70 yards.

Showed her off already but did exactly that with this 7x57/7x57R (interchangeable) No.1. Tapered dodecagon barrel (12 sided), best wood I’ve worked, NECG sights, recessed safety by doublegun that came with the donor action, and I slimmed the frame .100”.

Great figured wood, especially the sunbeam flares, they really stand-out.........nice classic cartridge as well. Although I favor the Ruger #1 falling block, there is a hinge/break rifle I've been keeping my eye on. It's a stunning rifle in the cartridge which I love the best for a single shot, 300 H&H. Decisions decisions.
 
Made it out this morning for a quick run up my local mtn tried out my new to me 20" T/C Katahdin Prohunter barrel with my top Contender 300gr TTSX load also tried my Marlin 1895GS 350gr A-Frames and 430gr WLNGC loads.

I bought the LNIB barrel off of the EE a few weeks ago for an excellent price also had to buy a a larger barrel channel Katahdin forend from Nine35 had it together for over a week now and needed to try it out.

Shooting off the roof of my SUV 88 yard groups with the factory rear ghost ring sight and factory red fiber optic front sight was 2" left and 3" high with the Contender load and the heavier 1895 loads were 2" left didn't have a small screw driver with me so I'll adjust the rear sight another day.

Now I just need to load some 460gr Cast Performance WLNGC loads specifically for this barrel.

The interchangeable barrel T/C single shots are super cool and the best part is they don't break the bank I can't say enough good things about them.
 
My all time favorite is the Blaser K95 hinge single shot, as I have had two of them chambered in 7x65R and 30R Blaser. Both the barrels shot fantastic off the same receiver and the Blaser scope mount holds its zero no matter how many times it is taken on/off. It's a nice take-down single to travel with.

I am also partial to the Ruger Number 1 falling block. They are a truly gorgeous design and the wood on the older ones is usually nicely figured. I have owned several and all shot great and at a third of the cost of a Blaser K95.

However, I do love the Blaser offering the most.
 
What about the F.A.I.R. break action rifles, are they any good? I've only experience with Ruger No.1's. I've had three now and they are a pleasure to carry balance wise. I'd love to get my hands on one in 25-06 at some point.
 
I like the break action design as im used to shooting sxs guns. My most inaccurate rifle is a traditions buck stalker muzzleloader. Its also a break action but it fits so well. My 5 largest bucks have fallen to it.
I think falling blocks or rolling blocks in rifles look more appealing but i like the simple familiarity of break actions
 
I’ve heard this repeated ad naseum about the “ BRNO” k1 fullstocks, but the one I owned was a great shooter
 
Just to confirm I am talking about a lower rent brand, not the effect produced by CZ.

Mine was in 243, if anyone bought it from Calgary shooting centre and wants to sell it please send me a message.
