I'm getting a group together most of whom have never hunted moose before, for a hunt next year. Expect the group size to be 4-6. One guy hunted moose growing up with his dad in Newfoundland. Another guy has hunted other big game including Caribou in Quebec.
Unfortunately none of us have information on what the WMU is that we ought to plan a hunt in. We are willing to drive about a day - 10 to 14 hours to get to some spot that offers a good chance at a tag and a good chance at a moose if we get a tag.
Realize we are starting rather early and we may well not have a tag in our first year. However, I'd like to try to come up with an area that we can go back to year after year if the group hangs together and an area that we can get to know. Might even visit it in the spring or summer to get to know the area.
Also looking for an area that does have some decent camps / accommodation for not a ridiculous price. Man some of the prices I've seen for lodges that cater to American hunters are out of the this world.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
