Which would you choose? Ruger PC Carbine, JR Carbine, Beretta CX4, Kel Tec Sub 2000?

Which NR pistol carbine to choose?

I find the look of the Ruger intriguing, and I imagine if they become popular enough, someone is going to bring new stocks to market. Also, I think it was Hickcock 45 saying in his 1st review that the rumour was Ruger has plans to make caliber swappable in the future.

Anyway, was all set to buy one Friday on my day off at Cabela’s (was $779) only to check the website to find it went back up to $839.

I grabbed one at $779... and was pleasantly surprised to find it shipped from Ottawa at No Charge. This is the first time I have Cabelas.ca ship from an Ontario location.

I'm waiting for a .45 ACP version. Oh yeah. :)

Picked up ruger last week for 729 at BP. ALso for those still shopping, find BP flyer and take it to Cabela’s . They will sell you their ruger for 729. Had both JR and Storm. Ruger is miles ahead ahead of both Imo. Positives, balance, accuracy . Negatives, mine stovepiped until I figured how to properly set tightening ring. Once I did that, this became my most favorite toy.

Got the CX4 Storm , had the bull non restricted barrel installed and LOVE IT. Was hitting 100 yd. steel plates but wouldn't knock them over.

I have a gen 1 sub2000 and a Storm, both are extremely reliable and chug along. The keltec is light and portable, other than that the beretta is better in every other way.

I like both for what they are.

I had a jc carbine. Sold it, pos to field strip; too many TINY, stripable allen bolts. It was reliable and accurate.

Currently have a 1st gen sub 2k with factory quad rail. Reliable and accurate as well. Optics choices are limited.

Next rifle will be a ruger pc. I can get over the fuglyness of it for ruger reliability and take down is a bonus.

The PC Carbine arrived... for a plinking toy this PC Carbine is a solidly made rifle... you are getting alot for your money. I'm going to try this Leupold VX-3 2.5-8X36 in QD rings on it for a bit, but may put a Vortex Venom dot on it for compactness... and need to find a takedown case, might aswell take advantage of that feature.

The PC Carbine is going to run away with this category and put the rest of them out to pasture. It's combination of features, price and yes Looks is hard to beat. For me I like the fact that it looks like a "normal" gun. I didn't want anything too radical looking. It will be the next 10-22 in this category.

Agreed, nothing great about these AR-wanna-be PPC that all seem to run like garbage and have poor warranty. Ruge is on my list once the ol credit card is paid.

Bought a JR takedown first, then got my hands on the Ruger. What can I say, I bought the Ruger, and promptly put the JR up for sale. I actually liked the JR, but the takedown was a bit of a pain in comparison, and it is an important feature for me.
Lost some money on the whole deal, but the Ruger was not yet available when I bought the JR, so...

This Ruger PC Carbine is an awful lot of fun... I have to start concentrating more heavily on "fun guns..." As a hunter primarily, I am constantly drawn to rifles and shotguns configured for hunting... but with so many options, covering exactly the same scenarios, I should be focusing more on guns that are designed for pure shooting enjoyment... particularly considering how much time I spend at the range. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with the PC Carbine at this price point.

Take it for walks in the bush. 9mm fmj is ideal for rabbits and grouse. Swap the mag to hollow points and its great for deer within bow ranges and absolutely hammers coyotes and easily takes wolves.
I carry my jrc and 4 loaded mags and a pack full of ammo. In case i find the need to plink in a gravel pit while out on my quad or walking logging roads.

I've said it before, but my CX4 with a Vortex Sparc II mounted shoots consistent lasers out to 100y. Groups are very impressive. It feeds everything and probably the best 9mm in terms of ergonomics, accuracy and reliability IMO. My friends don't even bring their 9mm PCC's out with me anymore as my CX4 puts everything to shame.

I like variety in PCC's so I might consider the PC9 in a wood stock, but not in its current configuration. In saying that I used to think the CX4 spacegun was fugly as well, but it definitely grew on me and is now on the never-sell list.
