Hello,

I just got my CC MRR 16" and I did the first cleaning today. I noticed these white blemishes all over the rifle, which are bothering me, since I expected a perfect finish for a $2800 gun. Can you guys please take a look and see if I should be worried / if it's a big deal?

Please let me know what you think!

Cheers,

EDIT: The rifle was purchased from Firearms Outlet Canada, which are refusing to allow me to return it, despite me never having fired it and reporting the finish issue to them a mere two days after I received it.

I own 3 CC lowers and a few uppers as well, none of mine look like that. If it is a shooter, then i wouldn't worry but if it is going to be a collector item "safe queen" i would take it back to the dealer personally. Im sure someone better in the know will give their opinion soon. Cheers

Did you pay Colt Canada $2800 or a dealer? Before you get snarky with the manufacturer, think about all the layers of intermediaries and each of their markups. You bought a desireable model and paid a premium for it. FWIW, there isn't much margin in over-the-counter retail firearms selling. The money is in models like yours from buyers like you. Each of those layers tacked a percentage on for their margin.

What to do? Start with the last person you gave the money to, and make them accountable. Bad publicity is not their friend.

BTW, the only perfectly finished gun I ever bought was an arsenal reParkerized Danish Garand that came out of the old Lever Arms 25+ yrs ago.

These rifles are military grade rifles made in a machine shop for military contracts, Where their QC checks for functionality not esthetics, unless there large patches of anodizing is missing or deep gouges or machining marks, there is nothing to worry about it just shoot it, after a couple of sessions at the range there will be all kinds of handling marks and scratches.

Contact whoever the retailer is you dealt with and the manufacturer to see what their warranty covers

This is nothing to be worried about, and absolutely does not warrant a warranty claim. At all.

You would be horrified by how Colt USA and even LMT rifles come new. Military contractors make military-grade rifles, cosmetics are not a priority nor a requirement. Colt Canada is not a boutique shop.

I just called the retailer bought it from (https://www.firearmsoutletcanada.com/) and they told me 'once a rifle leaves our care there is no way to return it'. Is that true/reasonable?

Then they said to contact O'Dell for warranty :(
I do t see that as reasonable.
You should have 30 days for a refund, unless you want to send it to Odell for warranty work.

It might not bother most people(until your dealing with them on the EE) but I’m sure you’ll take a good hit if you try and sell it.

Contact colt Canada and explain situation and what a retailer of their product told you.

My local gun store deals with it in house and then deals with their distributor or the manufacturer after the customer is happy. Unfortunately, lots of stores now just give you a warranty number to call and/or say there is nothing they can do.

In a perfect world I would look at what I am buying in person and not purchase it unless it met my expectations. Unfortunately that is not always possible.

And then people whine when companies that predominantly snub civvie sales for mil contracts stop offering their poducts for civillian sales.

Yes if the reason is that you dont like the rifle.

No if the reason is there is something wrong with the rifle.

The question is if those blemishes are a defect or something you dont like. I would think on a military rifle they are "in spec" if this was a collector's civilian rifles then I would think they are not in spec.

The rifle was not sold under military contract, it is a civilian sale.

For the premium price colt Canada charges, civilians want a quality finish on their gun. Sure there are buyers that don't care what it looks like new, but I don't see them buying a high end Sauer, heym, etc and accepting a dented stock and blemished finish because they are going to beat it up out in the bush anyways.

Beat up and blemished finishes on quality rifles basically means you should be paying used prices, not new retail

This. I don't know what to do now, I feel crappy. I saved up for a while to afford this rifle, and I don't feel good about it. Firearms Outlet Canada is never getting my business again.

Let me ease your stress brother. Let it go. It's ok. Enjoy it. Shoot it. Move on with life. Its a beautiful rifle. It's not a Rolex. It's a gun. I know you paid up, but the quest for perfection is always a let down. Just my opinion. Respect if you cant let it go though.

It’s quite easy.
Tell them you want a replacement or a full refund , if not you’ll take it up with your CC company.

At the end of the day, it’s you who needs to satisfied with your purchase.. Not the yahoos on here .. lol

I had a cosmetic issue on my CC SA20 and sent an email to Colt Canada directly. They told me to send it in and they will perform repair free of charge.

you tell the vendor that the rifle you bought is defective and for THAT reason you want to return or exchange it.

If they dont react to it and if it is indeed defective (i cant tell) then you step it up through the usual "dealing with uncooperative vendors" process
