Who’s excited for sept!

Picked up my licence in town yesterday, just about got a bear tag but relented. Little guy is getting far too cocky and starting to settle in. Less explaining when a tag has been purchased. Not a bear meat fan. The Torkelson Fire will have changed the landscape quite a bit and is still active (15% contained) but petering out as the weather cools. Good chick survival in our area so anxious for opening day (10th). Lucy and I have been out scouting and she is showing excellent promise. Can't wait to breakout the 20 ga Featherlight.

Just got one job to finish up and I'm off to Bella Coola for some coho fishin in the rivers..... with the bears LOL wish me luck !
got my tags back in april so I'm all set for hunting when i get back.
I've been scouting up high in 5 2B since last week of july and hopefully the bucks I've seen on my cams start hanging out earlier in the evening or later in the morning. So far the one group I've been tracking has been hitting the thick timber just before legal shooting light. They are hitting the greens and rosehips hard right now up top where the frost is starting to kill stuff. Won't be long now and they will be moving down and spending more time where I've put my game cams and treestands. If I play my cards right and get lucky...... there's a monster up there with my name on it haha

I’m visiting family in Ontario at the moment and thinking about season opener is killing me haha, I get home 2 days before things get going so I won’t miss opening day! Can’t wait to get out, all my gear is ready. Bought my tags in the spring, just counting the days down now...

we have 2 inches at least , Horse Lake , BC and still snowing lightly.
not good for the veggie gardens , we still have tomato , squash and pumpkin to harvest and a full bed of potato to dig up still..... looks like hunting will have to wait a day LOL

Have been out daily since the 10th, bagged three grouse so far and my buddy and that was up for a couple days put a nice 3pt whitetail buck on the ground on the 11th, good start to things. We covered a ton of ground scouting for a two week trip in oct.

I christened my new 870 express and my mag fed 14” grizzly on the grouse, anyone that says you can’t hunt with a short barrel 12g hasn’t tried hard enough haha. Been seeing a bit of mulie activity up higher this season which I’m very happy to see, one spot in particular has some nice mulie bucks on my trail cam.

Was excited till the snow showed up. went and got my first 2 geese of the season last weekend. hope the weather clears up a bit.

Super pumped now. Took Lucy for her morning run which since Sept 10th includes a shotgun along for the ride. She got birdy and I let her work. She found the birds and we ended up bagging one. She found three more bunches of birds before we got home and she is now just sitting there wondering why we can't just do it all day long. Not sure I have the correct answer for her except there are chores to perform, she probably would not agree with my reason. Shotgun is an LC Smith 20 ga Featherlight circa 1926 and it is the first bird bagged by that gun (by me). Last season was pretty much write-off for us but this one is heading in the right direction.

Had a great first day out this morning, hopefully get a few more days like this this season!
